Visitation/Open House Hours Visitors of the opposite sex must be signed in at all times and may only enter into the residence hall during visitation hours. Guest must stay with their escort at all times during their visit and abide by the guidelines laid out in the handbook. Studentsmust keep the door open, and the overhead light on at all times when a guest of the opposite sex is visiting. Students are also not allowed to be under the same blanket. With special permission froma ResidentAssistantorResidentHallDirectoroppositesexguestmayenterintotheresidence hall before visitation begins, but no earlier than 7:00am to assist in special activities such as check-in or check-out. Opposite sex guest will not be permitted in the residence hall for no reasons after Visitation hours have commenced until 7am. Failure to adhere to the Visitation/OpenHousepolicywillresultinlossofvisitationprivilegesandpotentiallyother sanctions deemed necessaryby theDirector ofResidenceLife.

Room Responsibility Policies All roomfurniture belonging to the collegemust bekept in good condition. Studentswill be financiallyresponsible for damaged,misplaced, ormissing furnishings. Residentsmayuse their own personal items, such as desk chairs and mattresses, in place of college provided items in the residencehall rooms.All college items that have been provided, even iftheyare not in use, are still the responsibilityof the room’s occupant(s) andmust be left as theywere found upon departure fromthe college Damages Students areresponsiblefordamagesthatoccurin theirroom.Thisresponsibilityextendsto damages caused byguests. Upon checking into a college residence hall room, each resident will be required to complete aRoomInventoryForm. This formrecords the conditionofthe room. It helps to furnish ourMaintenance staff with a list of necessary repairs, and it is also used at check-out to determine damage done to the room. Items and areas that are damaged due to other than normal wear will be repaired or replaced at the expense of those who caused the damage. Residents are expected to accept the responsibility for themaintenance of their rooms and for damages and replacement of missing items. Public area damage that cannot be attributed to specific individuals or is not the result of normal wear and tear will be divided equally among the residents of the suite, hall, or floor, whichever is appropriate, at the time of the loss or damage. Personalizing Rooms Bluefield College extends the privilege of personalizing individual rooms which enhance an enjoyable livingenvironment consistentwith thephilosophyoftheCollege community. Carpets – Studentsmay use carpets and rugs in their residence hall room. Carpets and rugs should beplaced on the floor without glue or tacks, and theymust be removed prior to room check-out.AlumniHall haswall-to-wall carpet installed in the rooms.

Ceilings – No items are to be attached or fastened to the ceiling of residence hall rooms. A fine will be assessed for items that are hung from the ceiling and there will be a charge
