If a student needs to come early or stay late, the student must be approved by their Resident Director and the Director of ResidenceLife.StudentsmustturnExtendedStayApplicationsinat least two weeks before the scheduled break to have consideration. Studentswill be charged for these extra days, as college roomrates are based strictly on semester occupancy.

TheResidenceLifeStaffwillmakearrangementswiththeathleticsstaffforstudent-athletes, student teachers and other college related needs for residential students duringbreaks.

Residence Hall Policies and Procedures On-campus living at Bluefield College offers a unique and valuable opportunity for all students to learn and growwithin a Christian community of students fromwidely varying backgrounds, interests, and Christian traditions. The College desires that all residents live comfortably within this environment, integrate classroom learning with out-of-class experiences, and grow in all aspects of life. To accomplish these goals and better order our life together, we have established certain expectations for living in the community here at BluefieldCollege. Theseguidelines aremeant formature, responsibleindividuals. Someof thepolicies aredesigned to create norms ofbehaviorwithin alarge, diversegroupofpeople, while others are meant to preserve the appearance and function of college owned property. We expect that the members of our community will strive to live within these guidelines. TheResidenceLifeStaffreservestherighttoconfrontinappropriateandoffensivebehavior/ attitudes not documented in this handbook that arise during the school year. Accountability Students are expected to encourage each other to live according to Bluefield College’s communitylivingstandards.Forthisreason,studentswhoarepresentwhenbehavioroccurs that violates college standardsmaybe found responsible for supporting thebehavior. Advertising Advertising is limited to certain areas of the campus and must be approved by the Office of Student Services, either by the Dean of Students, Director of Residence Life and/or the ResidentHallDirectors.Advertisementsmaybehungonbulletinboardsthroughoutcampus but cannot be taped to windows or walls. With the prior approval of the Director of Dining Services, advertisementsmayalso be placed in thedining facilities. Air Conditioners WindowunitsareprohibitedintheresidencehallswiththeexceptionoftheRHDapartments and Residence Life offices. Portable units may be used by students with allergies or other medical conditions after special permission has been given to them by the Director of Residence Life. Bicycles Studentsarewelcometobringandstoretheirbicyclesoncampus.Bicycleracksareavailable in areas by each of our residence halls. Students are expected to keep their bicycles outside at all times, and locked or chained to the bicycle racks only. Bicycles may not be stored or kept in residence hall rooms.
