Shirley A. Webb of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, passed away on February 6, 2014.

Eugenia ‘Genie’ Hughes Hancock of Shepherdstown, West Virginia, passed away on March 20, 2020. Genie was a runway model, a singer with the Robert Shaw Chorale, a soloist at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, and a volunteer with the USO in New York City. Locally, she was a Choral Director at Graham High School, Voice Instructor at Bluefield College , and vocal coach and choir director for individuals and at First Presbyterian Church. After retiring, she was a realtor and manager of the Commercial Department of Citizens Real Estate. Genie helped establish and was president/vice-president of the Community Concert Association (now Blue Mountain Performing Arts). She was the first woman president of the Greater Bluefield Chamber of Commerce, president of Main Street America, and co-founder of the Chamber of Commerce’s annual Reading Bee. Genie was named Paul Harris Fellow by the Bluefield Rotary Club, received the Distinguished Citizens Award from the American Legion, and the Athena International Leadership Award for Outstanding Women. She was the first woman to be installed as Moderator of the Presbytery of West Virginia and served as an Elder/Trustee of First Presbyterian Church where she taught adult Sunday school classes. mate in the U. Scott was an attorney for NBC, the Daily Telegraph Printing Company, WHIS-TV and Radio, the Bluefield Gas Company, Gas Service, Inc., and the Paper Supply Company. Over the years he served as a director and officer with The First National Bank of Bluefield, Bluefield Health Systems, Inc., the Bluefield Regional Medical Center Foundation, the Hugh Shott Jr. Foundation, the United Way (President 1970), and the Bluefield Chamber of Commerce (President 1984). He was a life-long Rotarian and was honored as a Paul Harris Fellow in 1986. He is remembered for his leadership role in racially integrating the Rotary Club and Fincastle Country Club. Scott was predeceased by his brothers Ned, Jimmy, and John Cary Shott , all friends of Bluefield College. Paul was Bluefield’s longest serving mayor, 1981 to 1993, Chairman of American Truck Dealers Association 1978 to 1980, President of the West Virginia Auto Dealers Association, the first West Virginian to be inducted into the Automotive Hall of Fame, President of the Bluefield Chamber of Commerce and President of the Bluefield Rotary Club where he was recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow. He received an honorary Doctorate from Northwood University, Midland, Michigan for his leadership in establishing a Truck Marketing curriculum. On November 21, 2003, he was inducted into the Bluefield High School Hall of Fame. Paul was a member of Mensa, a licensed pilot, a bridge life master, and an antique collector. A pursuit of fitness was expressed through jogging, golf and tennis. In lieu of flowers, Paul would be honored if you would make a donation to the W. Martin Delgado of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, passed away on October 10, 2019. Hazel was the wife of the late Primitivo Delgado , former Academic Dean and Professor of Bluefield College. Hazel worked in the Bluefield College library, and was a hostess to many college gatherings, as well as students, in her and Primitivo’s home. She had a master’s degree in religious education and had taught at Tazewell and Graham Elementary Schools in Virginia. David W. Dockery of Princeton, West Virginia, passed away on October 9, 2019. David was trustee emeritus at Bluefield College; pastor of Highland Creek Baptist Church in Martinsville, Indiana (1978- 1981); associate pastor of Colonial Avenue Baptist Church in Roanoke, Virginia (1981-1986); pastor of Fairlawn Baptist Church in Parkersburg, West Virginia (1986-1990); and pastor of First Baptist Church in Princeton, West Virginia, since July 15, 1990. Alice J. Edwards of North Augusta, South Carolina, and spouse of trustee emeritus, Dr. T. Keith Edwards , passed away on August 12, 2019. They served as medical missionaries in Nigeria, West Africa, where Alice worked as the operating room supervisor for the Baptist Hospital of Ogbomoso, now known as Bowen University Training Hospital (BUTH). She also served as the visiting nurse for an orphanage, Kersey Children’s Home. During their residence in West Virginia, Alice was a nurse practitioner and assisted her husband

2001 Harold Daniel “Dan” Churchey of Haymarket, Virginia, passed away on January 13, 2020. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and the Chief of Facilities for the National Park Service on the National Mall. 2003 Jennifer Stender Burton of Roanoke, Virginia, passed away on October 27, 2019. At the time of her passing, Jenny was employed with Carillion in the Department of Orthopedics. She loved sailing, skiing, and trips to the beach. 2004 Ryan P. Taggart of Hummelstown, Pennsylvania, passed away on March 27, 2020. He was employed in Hospitality and Management with Hershey Entertainment and was formerly an outside sales representative for Mid-Atlantic Machinery, Incorporated. 2006 Sharina F. Cecil of North Tazewell, Virginia, passed away on June 9, 2018. She was employed with Cumberland Mountain Community Services and was a choir member at Midway Church of Christ, DOC. 2008 Shelley L. Allen of Emporia, Virginia, passed away on December 22, 2017. She was a probation and parole officer with District 38. 2009 James ‘Jay’ E. Dunford, III of Rich Creek, Virginia, passed away on February 16, 2020. Jay was a lieutenant at the Radford University Police Department. Pennsylvania, passed away on September 22, 2019. Sandy was an employee of the Human Resources Department at Prince William County Social Services and later worked as a Resource Manager for Amazon. 2013 Julian A. Roberson of Fredericksburg, Virginia, passed away on September 16, 2019. He was employed with PepsiCo and recently accepted a position as a procurement officer in Homeland Security. Julian served as a junior trustee at Branch Fork Baptist Church. 2020 Israel K. Penn of Roanoke, Virginia, passed away on January 29, 2020. Israel began at Bluefield College in the fall of 2016 as a communications major. She was a sports journalist and instrumental in the formation and launch of the Black Student Alliance and other student initiatives. In the fall of 2018, Israel learned that she would need to pause her educational journey to focus on her battle with cancer. Friends William Paul Cole, Jr. of Bluefield, West Virginia passed away on June 28, 2020. Paul served two years with the United States Army, and continued in the Reserves to earn the rank of captain. He was a systems engineer with IBM in New York before taking over the operation of his father’s International Harvester dealership, Cole Motor 2011 Sandy Motyleski Minor , of Canonsburg,
