BC Alumna Whitney Browning on her Path in Ministry ON A MISSION:

I n 1922, the Baptist General Association of Virginia (BGAV) founded Bluefield College with the hope that “young people who attend the institution be strengthened in their faith and trained for Christian service.” A century later, BC remains committed to its relationship with the BGAV and to develop servant leaders. This vision is best demonstrated in the mission efforts of BC students and alumni, including alumna Whitney Browning (’17). A native of Bluefield, WV, Browning learned and grew in faith at Voice of Praise in Bluewell, WV. Browning remembers the flags from various countries lining the driveway leading to her church as a young girl. She imagined herself living in a village in Africa and

deep conviction that being a follower of Jesus means going all in,” said Browning. “To me, I can’t know Him deeply, love Him completely, and not share Him with everyone else. The words of The Great Commission to, “go therefore and make disciples of all nations” never felt like a suggestion to me, but an invitation to join the Lord on a journey of being His witness all over the earth and being a disciple who makes disciples.” When asked about her favorite mission trip, Browning says she struggles to answer. “Each trip is so different for many reasons,” said Browning. “Even if it’s returning to the same country, a trip is never the same. Each country, each people group I’ve worked with, each

living with the people whom she would be serving. From that age, she carried a love for the nations and knew God would use her to share His message with others. Browning graduated from BC in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in communication. She was a member of the BC women’s soccer team, Bluefield Collegiate Ministries (BCM), Alpha Chi Virginia Kappa Chapter, staff writer and editor- in-chief of The Rampage, and part of several groups in the music department. Through these various organizations and experiences, Browning was able to grow and share her faith. “Through the ups and downs of my own personal walk with Christ I’ve always felt a
