Corey Mullins was named Bluefield University Director of Ath letics on June 16, 2022. Mullins served as head women’s basketball coach at BU from the 2014-15 season through the 2021-22 season and as an Assistant Director of Athletics. Mullins gained more than 100 victories as head coach of the Bluefield women’s program, and coached 11 players who received All-Conference recognition from the Appalachian Athletic Conference. He was named National Christian College Athletic Association Mid-East Region Coach of the Year in 2016, 2017, and 2018.

Eleven members of the Bluefield University Football team were honored by the Mid-South Conference for stellar performances in the 2021 season. Jaquan Ebron headlines the list as MSC Appalachian Division Offensive Player of the Year. Mike Ketchum is the MSC Appalachian Division Assistant Coach of the Year. Ebron caught 80 passes for a team-high 1,406 yards and 16 touchdowns. He ranked first in the NAIA in yards, and third in touchdowns. Ketchum, in his fifth year at BU is the offensive coordinator. He guided an offense that led the NAIA in passing touchdowns (44), second in passing yards (3,819) and passing yards per game (324.2) and eighth in total offense (5,055 yards). Baylee Allen was named head softball coach after serving the 2022 season as interim head coach and as a graduate assistant coach in the 2021 season. Allen was an all-conference softball player at Tennessee Wesleyan University prior to coming to Bluefield. Jermiah Jenkins was named to the Virginia Sports Information Directors Men’s Basketball College Division All-State Second Team. Jenkins surpassed the 2,000-point mark in his BU career this past season and was a three-time All-AAC performer. Womens Basketball’s Kylie Meadows was named All-AAC First Team, and Jaydn Hoover and Destiny Long were named to the All-Freshman Team. Meadows led Bluefield, scoring 18.9 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. Hoover scored 8.7 points a game and added 3.2 assists and 1.1 steals. Long scored 8.3 per game with four rebounds and 1.6 assists. GarrettWright finished sixth at the Bluefield University Invitational, October 29 at Bluefield City Park. Wright completed the 5K race with a time of 18:32. Men’s Golf took top honors at the two-day Castle Classic at Fincastle in Bluefield, Va. in September 2021. The Rams captured the team event and Patrick Dodson was a medalist. Women’s Cross Country raced to a second place finish at the Smith River Classic in October 2021. Women’sVolleyball finished the 2021 season with a 20 -11 overall record, and 16-5 conference mark. BU Cheerleaders traveled to Orlando, FL for the UCA College Cheerleading National Championships to compete in the game day competition in January.
