Saint Francis Service Dogs 2025 Annual Report

Bye Bye Barn

The big, old barn on our 18 acre property has been many things in many different lives. For a large part of its existence, it was central to the area’s equestrian scene as home to Lakeland Stables - where American Saddlebreds were often shown in its indoor riding ring. When Saint Francis Service Dogs purchased the property in 2002, the barn took on a new life - hosting fundraising events, puppy class, and advanced training sessions. For many years, it also served as the stage where we celebrated our new service dog teams at our annual graduation ceremony.

As our facility grew and we built more suitable places for our daily operations, the old barn became a storage space - settling into its final role. After years of quiet deterioration, demolition was the only feasible option. Over just a few days in January of 2026 as our staff watched with fascination, a crew quickly and efficiently brought it to the ground. Parts and pieces have been recycled to go on to live new lives, and the ground has been cleared and landscaped - making space for what lies ahead for Saint Francis Service Dogs.
