1960 Reginald F. Rose, Mayor of Tupelo, Mississippi, was employed with Lane Furniture Corporation in finance, accounting, and customer relations before retiring. He and his wife, Delores Bowling Rose (’61 ) enjoy being naturalist master gardeners and assisting those in need of a hot meal or hand-up. 1966 David N. Harker of Forest, Virginia, enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1967 and served as a rifleman with Company A and D, 3rd Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment of the 196th Infantry Brigade in South Vietnam from November 1967 until he was captured and taken as a Prisoner of War in January 1968. After spending 1,884 days in captivity, SSG Harker was released during Operation Homecoming in March 1973. He was hospitalized to recover from injuries, then honorably discharged from the Army in June 1973. Harker was employed as a corrections officer for 30 years, serving as a Probation/Parole Officer with the Commonwealth of Virginia; a Parole Examiner with the Virginia Parole Board; and Vice Chairman of the Parole Board appointed by Governor Mark Warner. He was called back into state service in 2007 for the Virginia Department of Veterans Services as a Special Outreach Coordinator before retiring. Harker is available to speak at local schools, churches, and various civic and veteran’s events to give his testimony of his faith that sustained him while a Prisoner of War. 1979 Debra K. Kidd of Charlotte, North Carolina, served twenty years and eight months in the Air National Guard, the last five in active duty and the last four as Chaplain for the 145th Airlift Wing and retired in August 2017. 1984 Lori Gibson Comer of Princeton, West Virginia, was approved by the Montgomery County School Board to be the new principal for Belview Elementary School beginning July 1, 2018. Lori has more than 10 years of experience as a principal in Mercer County Schools and more than 20 years of experience as a teacher. 1992 R. Brian Webb of Richlands, Virginia, is an Area Executive for MCNB Bank & Trust and serves on the Board of Directors for Tazewell County Habitat for Humanity and Bluefield Sales Executive Club. 1993

1997 Christopher D. Berry of McGregor, Texas, switched playing diamonds at McLennan Community College after being named the College’s head softball coach. Berry takes over the Highlassie Softball program following a very successful four-year stint as an assistant coach for the Highlander Baseball squad highlighted by a pair of conference championships, a pair of regional championships, and a pair of trips to the JUCO World Series. Berry and his wife, Connie, have two children, Kennedy and Jackson. 2000 W. Dwight Nixon, a news and sports photojournalist with WDCW-TV in Washington, D.C., recently won an Emmy award for his coverage of the Charlottesville riots in 2017. Dwight is also a field producer and social and new media journalist for WDCW. His career also includes 16 years with WWBT-TV in Richmond, Virginia, and one year with WPDE- TV in Florence, South Carolina. 2002 Col. David A. Hackworth of Chesapeake, Virginia, was sworn into his new position as the superintendent of Hampton Roads Regional Jail. Hackworth was the former Chief Deputy of the Chesapeake Sheriff’s Office and has served in law enforcement for 31 years. He has been a Certified Jail Manager with the American Jail Association for 14 years. Jamie Parsell Null of Princeton, West Virginia, and executive director of the Mercer County Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB), recently graduated from a three-year program of the Southeast Tourism Society (STS) Marketing College and is now certified as a Travel Marketing Professional (TMP). 2003 Teresa Gabrielson Davis of Appomattox, Virginia, was recently named the Communications Director for Gleaning for the World, which helps address the needs of people dealing with disasters and poverty in the USA and around the world. She is married to Evan Davis, USMC retired, and they have a daughter, Lyana 2004 James W. Nunnally and his wife, Amber, of Chester, Virginia, welcomed their son, Timothy Eric, on March 26, 2019, weighing 8.5 lbs. and 21 inches long. Robert Uriah Owens and Christina Flowers Owens (’08) of Bluefield, Virginia, gave birth to a baby girl, Kendal Exa Owens, in January 2019. 2006 Wendy Baker Glass of Christiansburg, Virginia, is the new Vice President of Human Resources for LewisGale Regional Health System. Previously, she was the HR Vice President at Colleton Medical Center in South Carolina and joined HCA in 2011 as the HR Business Partner for LewisGale Physicians. 2008 Jessica L. Brokaw of Lexington, Ohio, recently accepted the position as head girls basketball coach at Lexington High School.

Flowers and his wife, Kayla Hayes Flowers (‘10) of Albany, Georgia, welcomed their newborn daughter, Vivi Joyce, on January 15, 2019 weighing 7 lbs. and 20 inches long. 2010 Melissa A. Fielding of Stanardsville, Virginia, became the first deputy police chief for the University of Virginia. Fielding began as a military police officer, was deployed to the Middle East in 1991, and received an Army Commendation and Meritorious Service Medal while being stationed there. She has served on the force for 27 years starting as a police officer, then promoted to sergeant, lieutenant, captain, and served as the acting chief of police before her last promotion. Daniel R. Schroeder of Christiansburg, Virginia, is currently employed with First Heritage Mortgage as a loan officer. 2011 John Michael and Paige Bohon (‘15) of Bluefield, Virginia, celebrated the birth of their son, John Michael, Jr. born on January 12, 2019 weighing 8 pounds, 15 ounces and 23 inches long. Emily Wingfield of Gloucester, Virginia, married Aaron Mathews on October 14, 2017. After graduating from Bluefield College, Emily obtained her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Radford University. She was previously employed as the Director of Residence Life and Summer Programs at Bluefield College, when Aaron (who is the minor-league coach for the Bluefield Blue Jays) walked into her office to obtain keys for the Blue Jays short season A team to stay on the college campus for the first time. They took every opportunity to converse from then on and Emily quickly became a baseball fan. 2012 Gregory M. Moon of Cleveland, Ohio, is the Assistant Director of Development at Cleveland Clinic. Previously, he was the Director of the Golden Flashes Club at Kent State University. 2013 Daniel R. Turpin married Jessica D. Newman (’16) on August 4, 2018 at Virginia Beach, Virginia. Emory “Trey” E. Wilson, III of Goochland, Virginia, joined The Richmond Flying Squirrels, Double-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, as the team’s new play-by-play broadcaster and Director of Communications & Broadcasting. In this position, Wilson will be the lead voice for the team’s radio broadcasts on Fox Sports 910, head the club’s media and public relations work, host the TV show “Flying Squirrels Insider” on Community Idea Stations and assist with graphic design, social media and the organization’s digital presence.

1995 Charlie M. Agnew of Cochran, Georgia, took third place in the Distinguished Community Engagement Award for 2017-2018 at the College of Arts & Sciences, Middle Georgia State University. He had a Solo Exhibition of his artwork at Mercer University, Macon, Georgia from November 2015 to January 2016. Charlie is the Art Program Coordinator at Middle Georgia State University since August 2014 and the Gallery Director of the Peacock Gallery since January 2005.
