2018 HOMECOMING AND FAMILY WEEKEND was a huge hit! 1980’s Alumni

H undreds of alumni and friends visited Bluefield College for a beautiful Homecoming and Family Weekend in November 2018. Alumni from around the country gathered for a weekend to share stories, make friends, and celebrate milestone reunions. Josh Grubb, Director of Development and Alumni Affairs, welcomed guests to many events, including a career seminar, auction, dinner theatre, dancing, campus tours, alumni awards, tailgating, and worship. “Homecoming is one of the most spectacular events of the year for the College,” said Grubb. “We love

seeing the smiling faces of alumni who get to reconnect with old friends and the amazement they have when they hear how well their alma mater is doing.” On Wednesday, BC alumnus Spencer Wood (’98) shared words of encouragement and inspiration in the Dome Gymnasium as part of the BC Homecoming Chapel Service. Wood has worked with championship teams at the US Olympic Training Center, in professional leagues such as the NBA and MLB, and with teams from every major sport in the Big East, Big Ten, ACC, PAC Twelve, Big Twelve, and SEC Conferences.

Before Wood inspired the crowd, the students were invited to participate in the Homecoming Scholarship Challenge. Current student, Katie Otis, beat out the competition this year and won a $1,000 scholarship thanks to generous alumni donors who gave to the Homecoming Scholarship Challenge. Eight members of the class of 1968 came back for the Golden Graduate induction ceremony. The Golden Graduate Society was established to preserve the legacy of alumni during their 50-year Golden Anniversary. Sixty alumni and friends gathered for the celebration,
