writing was based on each student’s average score of correctly spelled word wall words for four different writing pages that students completed. From each student’s percentage, a class average of all the scores was conducted. After collecting observations and student writing samples to analyze and interpret students’ ability to correctly spell word wall words, the following finding emerged: The procedure of the explicit review of word wall words on a daily basis and the use of an interactive word wall were effective strategies to enable students to correctly spell word wall words during writing. This view was based on the data collected after examining my students’ autobiographical writing in determining correctly spelled word wall words. Table 1 was devel- oped to encompass the data, and, overall, regardless of each student’s writing abilities and strengths, the

students were able to correctly spell their word wall words in their writing at a high percentage. This is evidenced in that the class average proved that 97.5% of students were able to accurately spell their word wall words in their writing. While there was one student who was able to correctly spell word wall words with 78% accuracy, all of the other twenty students were able to correctly spell word wall words in writing with 93% accuracy or higher. Furthermore, nine of the twenty-one students were able to spell their word wall words accurately as evidenced by a score of 100% accuracy. Therefore, the procedure of explicit review of word wall words and the use of the interactive word wall, proved to be an effective strategy to enable students’ mastery of word wall words as portrayed by the class average of 97.5% accuracy.
