Ruritan Harassment Policy Ruritan is committed to providing an environment that is free of discrimination and unlawful harassment. Ac ‑ tions, words, jokes, or comments based on an individual’s sex, race, national origin, or ethnicity, age, weight, disability, religion or any other legally protected characteristics will not be tolerated. The Law Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended and state and local laws. Defined: Discriminatory treatment on the basis of race, color, sex, religion, national origin, age (40 or older), disability, or protected activity under anti-discrimination statutes. Unwanted sexual advances, requests for sexual acts, or favors, or other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature. Any statement or implication that an individual’s submission to or rejection of such sexual conduct will or might be used as the basis for any employment decisions affecting such individual (quid pro quo). Sexual behavior, whether verbal or physical, which is unwelcome, personally offensive, injurious to morale, interferes with work performance, or creates a hostile, intimidating or offensive environment. Applies to: Office staff, Supervisors, co-workers, National Leaders, District Leaders, Club Leaders, volunteers, including their interactions with each other. Example: Club Leaders and volunteers, Volunteers and Office Staff etc. Not meant to: Discourage invitations to social events Discourage appropriate comments on personal appearance Discourage innocent activities Who defines: Normally defined by the recipient of the action. The person who is being offended. All complaints should be reported to: Club Leaders, District Leaders, Supervisor, Member of Management Team, Executive Director, President of Ruritan National. Ruritan will take appropriate action with regard to harassment claims.
