Serving with Purpose: A United Vision for Ruritan in 2026
2026 NATIONAL PRESIDENT DAVID THOMPSON
It is truly an honor to serve as your National President for 2026. Our recent Convention was filled with fellowship, gratitude, and a shared commitment to the future of Ruritan. I am deeply thankful for the mentors, family, and Ruritans who encouraged and supported me on this journey. Their
influence—and the spirit of service they modeled—continues to guide me today. My “why” begins with early experiences serving others through church youth programs, volunteer rescue work, coaching, and eventually Ruritan. Those experiences taught me the lasting impact of helping neighbors and building stronger communities. Service has shaped my life, and I hope each of you feels the same reward in your own Ruritan journey. This year, my primary focus is Project FOCUS. The fund played a critical role in helping communities affected by Hurricane Helene, and now we must rebuild those resources so we are ready when the next disaster strikes. I encourage every club, district, and member to find ways to support this important effort. I also ask each of you to embrace change. Over the past few years, Ruritan has taken important steps to strengthen our future. Those changes are working—we are growing clubs, adding members, and stabilizing our organization. By continuing our commitment to the Long-Term Plan and the “3+5 Keeps the Dream Alive” initiative, we will keep moving forward together. I am excited to work alongside a dedicated Board and grateful for the leadership that has brought us to this point. Ruritan succeeds when we work as one team, support one another, and stay united in our mission. Thank you for all you do for Ruritan and for your communities. I am always just a call, text, or email away. Together, we will continue to serve, grow, and make a difference.
