difficulty. Claudine and Bethel live with their families in Florida. Joyce lives in North Carolina and Peggy lives with Aunt Lenore in Dublin. Carol also lives in Dublin in the house she inherited from Aunt Stella and Uncle Emory. Chuck became a skilled auto painter and lives and works in Wytheville, Virginia. Lenore was a lady who came from humble beginnings and was dealt a tough hand to play in life. She never feigned from her responsibilities and maintained devotion to her children. She made a living on her own and never complained of the hardships thrust upon her. She is to be admired and respected and we would all do well to emulate this stoic and exceptional lady. I am proud to be her nephew.

The Miller line has its roots in the British Isles and possibly the European continent. Our ancestors came to America looking for economic opportunities and religious freedom. We are the descendants of simple hard-working religious people. We can take pride in the heritage left us by honorable men and women who helped form our present society. Many were farmers who were close to nature, raised their families on basic principles of life, were diligent workers, and true to their religious faith. We know more about recent generations and of their personalities but I suspect that our earlier ancestors carried some of the same human traits as we have today. In each descending line there were family conflicts and days of celebration. Many of you will have different memories from the past and other stories to tell. This book is by no means the whole story so each of you will have to pass on to the next generations your individual memories and perspectives. Those experiences need to be recorded in some fashion so they will not be forgotten or lost. Each of us will become someone’s ancestor and what better legacy could we
