For the Week: Psalm Fifteen

David then goes on to tell us that there are essentially three things that God is wanting from us so that we can abide in His tabernacle and dwell in His holy hill. The first thing is our walk. This is not talking about your gait, skip, or trot, but is talking about the general direction of our life. Is your desire to be righteous, to please God? Do you want to do the right thing even if that is not always what you do? God wants people in His house that want to do the right thing no matter the cost. The next thing that David tells us about the person that God wants in His house is one that is thoughtful with their words. Pastor Tyler talked about this a little bit ago when he was teaching through James 3. Dear friends, our words are powerful, with the potential to do great good, or cause great harm. God is not wanting those that will live in the mansion He has made to be people that backbite, slander, gossip, ridicule or put down others. It is hard to say, but I would guess that words are probably the most dangerous weapon in the world. But, they can also be the best medicine that has ever been. God has given us Heaven, and He does not want us to belittle or berate those that are our brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus. The last guideline that David says God is looking for is justice. He is not talking about social justice, political justice, or even parental justice, but His justice. God is wanting a people that will uphold His rules and His standards on whatever issues life puts before us. Dear friends, these are the things that God is looking for in a people that will dwell in His house forever. David concludes this Psalm with “He who does these things shall never be moved.” To this, I say amen and amen. Let’s Pray: Father in heaven, please help me to have the right kind of feet to “walk blameless” and hands to do “what is righteous,” lips “to speak the truth,” and a heart “that will never be shaken.” Amen.
