On behalf of the Rotary Club of Stuart, we welcome you to the 68th annual Patrick County Agricultural Fair. This would have been the 69th, but due to the COVID virus we weren’t able to have a fair in 2020. I am hoping you are as eager as Stuart Rotarians are to finally have the fair again. The sights and sounds of the Patrick County Agricultural Fair have been a staple for almost 70 years now, and we anticipate this to be our best fair ever. Many special events are planned with the ever popular demolition derby on Saturday night as the grand finale. Rides/Midway/Prizes/Games/Food/Exhibits/Livestock/Shows/ Music/Bingo; you will find something for every age during the week. Our Rotarians and countless volunteers are busy preparing for an event that will please everyone. Most importantly, we continue to reinvest proceeds from the fair back into our community service projects, all to the benefit of the citizens of Patrick County. The past year has been a challenge, but we hope that your attendance at the annual fair will bring about a sense of normality. Our goal is for you and your family to have the most wonderful fair experience ever and that the fair will be an exciting event to cap off the summer and head into the beautiful fall months here in Patrick County. Patrick County offers a simple life, unhurried and rich in the traditions and friendliness of mountain communities. Patrick County is rich in historical attractions which include our antebellum courthouse, The Reynolds Homestead, Laurel Hill- the birthplace of General J. E. B. Stuart, Jack's Creek Covered Bridge and the site of the Bob White Covered Bridge. The Strawberry Festival, Peach Festival, Apple Dumpling Festival, the Faery Festival and the four day Front Porch Festival are some of the festivals to be enjoyed in the county. Numerous outdoor attractions include the Blue Ridge Parkway, Dan River, Philpott Lake, Kibler Valley, Fairy Stone State Park, Fred Clifton Park and Lovers Leap Overlook. The PATRICK COUNTY CATTLEMEN ASSOCIATION AND LIBERTY FARMS, LLC of Stuart, are partners in donating a Black Angus to the Rotary Club of Stuart for a raffle to benefit the Club. The beef will be on display during the fair week. Tickets will be available for purchase at the Animal Barn. All proceeds go to the club and the work it does in our communities.

FOUNDATION PURPOSE • Created in 1968 • Purpose was to receive donations of money and property in order to award loans and scholarships to enable Patrick County graduates to pursue their education beyond high school • Funds managed by Board of Directors STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM • Established in 1976 • 319 scholarships awarded totaling $ 265,450 • Applications may be obtained from PCHS guidance department • 24 scholarships totaling $ 41,500 awarded to graduating class of 2021 FIRST GENERATION SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM • Initiated in 2019 • Provides a $ 2,000 scholarship annually for a maximum of 4 years (totaling $ 8,000) or until a bachelor’s degree is received • Applicants must be the first individual in his/ her family to attend college. • In addition to an extensive application and interview process, recipients had to • (1) commit to maintain an acceptable college GPA and outstanding discipline record, • (2) participate in and attend certain Rotary meetings and events, • (3) perform an annual minimum of sixteen (16) hours of community service. • (4) be assigned to a mentor from the Stuart Rotary Club who will guide, advise, and assist students through their college experiences.
