Advanced Training Program

PUPPY PROGRAM

ADVANCED TRAINING PROGRAM In Advanced Training, our dogs build on the basic skills they have learned, ultimately mastering more than 40 specialized tasks and Puppies enter our Puppy Program when they are just 8 weeks old! With the guidance of our trainers and their Volunteer Puppy Raisers or their Inmate Puppy Raisers in our Prison Pup Program, they learn basic obedience and manners. They build confidence as they are socialized to the big world around them, and they learn beginning commands, like “Sit,” “Leave it,” “Get it,” “Down,” and “Wait.”

commands to assist their future partners. Our expert trainers work with 5-6 dogs at a time, teaching them to open and close doors, retrieve a medicine bag from the refrigerator, respond to a “Help” command, and many other skills required to become exceptional service dogs.
