MERIT BADGE SUMMER PROGRAMS The following activities are available for boys/girls ages 10-17 interested in improving their health, learning new skills and expanding their work. This is also an introduction to Scouting and starting a journey of earning badge requirements while having fun! Once a Scout submits a “blue card” (provided in each class) to their troop leader, the troop will purchase and award the badge. **Non-Scouts (boys and girls) are also welcome to sign up and learn new skills and topics through these programs as well as experience a part of the Scouting program. COOKING – Instructor: Lisa Bass Location: Recreation Center – Classroom 1 Additional Information: To stay active, young people need to eat healthy. Techniques on planning, shopping and cooking meals will be taught along with a opportunity to cook lunch and prepare a meal for an afternoon hike (weather permitting). This is an Eagle-required merit badge as well as a lifelong skill. This is a partial merit badge with more home, campout and hike meals need to be planned, shopped, prepared, and evaluated on your own time. Minimum: 3 Maximum: 8 Registration Eligibility Date Time TR/NR April 1 – May 22 Ages 10 - 17 Wednesday, May 29 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. $25/$35 PERSONAL MANAGEMENT – Instructor: Lisa Bass Location: Recreation Center – Classroom 1 Additional Information: It is never too early to start learning about money matters. How to manage money is one of the more important skills to prepare for a responsible and happier adulthood. Financial terminology, planning, budgeting, and practi cal lessons along with time management skills will fill the day. This is a partial Merit Badge with a need for logging 13-weeks of income and expenses. Minimum: 3 Maximum: 8 Registration Eligibility Date Time TR/NR April 1 – May 22 Ages 10 - 17 Thursday, May 30 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. $25/$35 CITIZENSHIP IN THE COMMUNITY – Instructor: Lisa Bass Location: Recreation Center – Classroom 1 Additional Information: Living in a community means more than residence. In order to be productive citizens, Scouts need to learn more about their neighborhoods, towns and counties as well as become involved in the government and organizations within those borders. This is an Eagle-required Merit Badge. Partial until a completed 8-hours of service in the community. Minimum: 3 Maximum: 8 Registration Eligibility Date Time TR/NR April 1 – May 22 Ages 10 - 17 Friday, May 31 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. $15/$25 AMERICAN HERITAGE – Instructor: Lisa Bass Location: Recreation Center – Classroom 1 Additional Information: A better understanding of American history and the ways in which our country has been shaped helps youth understand what it means to be an American and their role in its future. Topics include: the history of how the USA started, the flag, historic places, music, etc. to increase curiosity in learning more about our country. This is an Eagle-required
