NARRATIVE
The Town Council is the legislative body of the Blacksburg local government. The Council includes a Mayor and six Council members, all elected at large for four-year terms. The next regular election is scheduled for November 2025. The Council appoints the Town Manager, Town Attorney and Town Clerk. The Council is responsible for passing all ordinances and resolutions, setting all tax rates including the rate for real property, approving the annual Operating Budget and the five-year Capital Improvement Program , setting all user fees, including water, sewer, stormwater, and the solid waste disposal rates, approving appointments to Boards and Commissions, and adopting long-range plans and policies. The Council meets by charter on the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. with adjourned meetings normally set on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. Public hearings are usually held on the second Tuesday of the month.
