Students may choose an IT elective and should determine transfer institution’s requirements prior to selection of IT electives. For example: • choose a network class for a networking concentration, (ITN) • choose a web design class for a web development concentration (ITP) • choose a database class for a database concentration (ITD) • choose course ITP 251 Systems Analysis and Design for a software engineering concentration Students make take any course listed in the Radford University VCCS Transfer Guide that is offered by New River and that begins with one of the following prefixes: CSC, ITD, ITE, ITP, or ITN. 3 cr. Students should confirm math requirement at a 4-year transfer institution. Although a math sequence fulfills the requirements for an NRCC program, it may not fulfill the math requirement for the student’s intended major at a four-year institution. Students who plan to transfer need to determine the four-year institution’s math requirement prior to course selection. Students should take MTH 264 if planning to transfer to Radford University’s Computer Science and Technology degree or Computer Science or Networks concentrations. Mathematics Sequences: The Mathematics requirement may be selected from the following sequences: MTH 155 Statistical Reasoning 3 cr. - MTH 161 PreCalculus I 3 cr. MTH 167 PreCalculus with Trigonometry 5 cr. - MTH 263 Calculus I 4 cr. MTH 161 PreCalculus I 3 cr. - MTH 261 Applied Calculus I 3 cr. MTH 261 Applied Calculus I 3 cr. - MTH 262 Applied Calculus II 3 cr. 6 cr. Note: Some of the courses listed may not transfer to every four-year institution. Students planning to transfer should consult the four-year institution to determine course recommendations prior to registering for classes at NRCC.
