Giles County enrolled at NRCC. Since then, all jurisdictions in the college’s service region have joined the ACCE program. Major curriculum changes in math, English, and nursing occurred, along with changes made due to Transfer Virginia. Significant student services initiatives were introduced to intentionally engage students. Updates to technology in the classrooms and offices continued during this decade, as well as improvements to the buildings and grounds. As each member of the college family embraced the initiatives and focused on student success, NRCC effectively served the educational needs of our students and community for another decade.

(AMCC). Another special guest was Mr. Paul Duncan, a philanthropist and founder of what is known today as the Duncan Automotive Network. He was awarded NRCC’s first-ever honorary degree, an Associate of Humane Letters, at the 2015 graduation. Virginia Superintendent of Public Instruction Steven R. Staples visited the campus during the March 2017 Career Day. In Spring 2019, two representatives from the Turkish Embassy visited Pulaski County to increase the trade volume between the two countries. The representatives toured the heavy technology classes at NRCC. Also, in the spring of 2019, the Honorable Morgan Griffith, U.S. Representative for Virginia’s 9 th congressional district, toured the college’s facilities, including the electrical, automotive, police/forensics science, welding, machine technology, instrumentation, and 3D printing labs. Conclusion During the years 2010 to 2019, many new initiatives were implemented and an increased focus on student success occurred at NRCC. Enrollment declined during this decade, and significant budget cuts continued. The VCCS implemented a Shared Services Center to reduce administrative burden on individual colleges; and Achieve 2015 and Complete 2021, the second and third strategic plans, were introduced. The NRCC Educational Foundation recorded net assets of over $20 million by the end of 2019. Many donations and substantial grants were received, including the $1.1 million HITE grant.
