A Few Comments About The Author Debra K. Bond has been an integral part of the NRCC community since the 1970s. She started her New River journey as a student after graduating from Carroll County High School, earning an associate degree in secretarial science. Later she earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Radford University and completed additional studies at Virginia Tech and Old Dominion University. Her employment at New River has included roles as a clerk stenographer and instructional assistant, faculty member (eventually reaching the rank

of professor of administrative support technology) and dean of business and technologies. Following her retirement in 2023, she accepted a part-time position in external relations where she assists with special projects.
