Defining the Exchanges The physical block diagram reflects the connections ( Links ) between our system and the externals. It does not show the exchanges ( Items ) transferred across those connections. The Internal Block Diagram from SysML includes that information as well. 1. If you viewed the physical block diagram in the project explorer, click the “Flow Internal Block” tab 2. If you opened the physical block diagram as a separate window, click on the diagram background and click the Flow Internal Block toolbar button The diagram reflects the composition and connection we previously defined. Adjust the layout, as desired.

Adding Our First Exchange The toolbox has access to the common ‘building blocks’ plus all elements from across the model 1. Select the “All Entities” tab to access all elements 2. In the classes list, select Item 3. In the elements list, right-click and select New Element to create a new Item (or

double-click Item in the class list) 4. Name the new Item “requests” 5. Drag- drop “requests” on to “Customer Connection” 6. Select transferred by and click OK Dragging one element on to another relates the elements. CORE prompts you with the possible relationships to choose from.
