S Kelsea Helfgot is a doctoral student studying Literacy, Language, and Culture at Clemson University. Her current research is aimed at using young adult literature to promote diversity and inclusion, with a focus on religion and intersectionality. Katie McGee is a Ph.D. candidate in the language, literacy, and culture program at Clemson University. Her research interests include young adult literature, preservice teacher education, and racial literacy development. Prior to her doctoral studies, she was a middle school English teacher in Oklahoma and Texas, a literacy coach, and a secondary literacy curriculum specialist.
