S Shuang Du is a Ph.D. student in the language and literacy program at the University of South Carolina. She was born in China and studied at Korea University in South Korea and the University of Salamanca in Spain. She is a native speaker of Mandarin and speaks Korean, English, and Spanish. She also speaks a little Italian, French, German, and Japanese. Her research interests include bilingual/multilingual education, learning a second language, culture and diversity in literacy education, and multicultural literature.
