She received her Ph.D. in Elementary Education with a specialization in Reading Education from the University of South Florida. She is a long-time professional and teacher educator. Her prior experience includes classroom teacher, reading specialist, director of the campus-based reading clinic and department chair. She currently teaches graduate reading education courses. Her research interests continue to be teacher-training and improving instructional strategies for striving readers. Dr. Manarino-Leggett can be contacted at pleggett@uncfsu.edu .
