Fundraising

But when a fundraiser took the time to show me new pathways, it felt like they weren’t just asking for a gift—they were helping me become a better steward of my generosity. What I Wish More Fundraisers Understood Donors want to be known, not managed. Generic campaigns leave us cold. Personalized conversations ignite our passion. We think about impact. Show us what changes because of our giving, not just that it keeps the lights on. We notice tone. Gratitude and humility go much further than urgency or emotional manipulation. We want to trust you. And trust is built when you communicate with transparency and integrity—not just passion. If fundraisers can move from transactional to transformational relationships, they will find not only more support but also more sustained support. Donors stay connected to organizations that reflect back their own sense of purpose. Giving is Personal—So Make the Ask Personal, Too Ultimately, giving is never just financial. It’s a soul transaction. The more fundraisers honor that sacredness, the more both sides will thrive. When I feel like my giving matters because I matter, I’m not just likely to give once. I’m likely to give again—and give better. Let’s stop thinking of giving as a one-sided act. It’s a partnership. A dialogue. A deeply human exchange. And when we approach it with care, mutual respect, and intention, something remarkable happens: philanthropy becomes a shared joy.
