It all starts with a HOME.

Ideally, a HOME is a secure place where one can retreat, relax, and recharge. A safe haven to build a family, create memories, laughter and celebrations. We all deserve a safe place to call HOME. Your support provides an opportunity for hardworking people in need of safe, affordable housing to create a stable home environment for their families. Your contribution is not only an investment in the families we serve and in the commu- nity in which we live, it is a transformative hand up that helps break adverse cycles of poverty, and liberates families from gener- ational, social and cultural constraints. The Habitat homebuyer program teaches individuals how to attain long-term success in all areas of their lives. Empowered with confidence and life skills, our families accomplish their goals, flourish and add value to our community.

Our program imprints positive patterns, and offers an effective, proven strategy that transforms participants on a visceral level. Habitat homebuyers have credited our program with improved health, aug- mented savings, and higher literacy rates. We have seen the children of parents who didn’t finish high school achieve PHDs. We have watched single mothers become first-generation homeowners and return to school to further their education. A Habitat house is the tangible product, but the stable foundation on which it is built is often the conduit that launches our determined families forward on their journey of success. Your support will help even more families achieve dignity, stability and independence though healthy, affordable housing. You can help turn dreams into reality. It all starts with a HOME.

Family Individuals and families flourish through the Habitat home- buyer process. The transformation that occurs increases self-esteem, confidence and dignity. Habitat homebuyers build much more than equity—they achieve stability and independence. The process equips them with the tools they use to tackle additional life goals like furthering their education,

improving their quality of life health, and contributing to their community. When families partner with Habitat, they start down a new path — one with fewer barriers and renewed momentum to dream bigger, reach farther, and the capacity to live a more enriched life.

Environmental Sustainability All the homes we build and renovate are EarthCraft certified and meet EnergyStar efficiency standards, which demonstrates our long-term commitment to exceed the average Building Code requirements. These extra measures, along with top-quality construction, are

paramount because they keep the rising costs of operating a house down for the families we serve, increase home and property values, and improve the communities in which we build.

Our ReStore not only provides access to affordable building materials and household goods, but also diverts approximately 884 tons from our landfill annually.

The ReStore also sells a line of premium, high-performing recycled paint created from used paint that would have otherwise been incinerated and placed in a landfill. Last year the ReStore sold 9,403 gallons of this paint, which, provided income used for construction cost.

ves a COMMUNITY . Every invigorated COMMUNITY boosts the ECONOMY . E. YOU are the KEY.

Community There is a domino effect that occurs when Habitat renovates and builds in a community. Not only do our high-quality, Earth Craft certified homes improve the look and feel of the neighborhoods we serve, they increase property values, which helps drive economic development. Through our neighborhood revitalization work, we tailor our efforts to suit the needs of each individual community by partnering with the residents, community leaders, churches, schools, neighborhood coalitions, local government and other nonprofit organizations to address the concerns of the people who live in the neighborhoods we work in.

Our inclusive, collaborative response to community goals and concerns encourages

Partnership and Education Homeownership is a lofty endeavor, which is why we invest in the partnership with our homebuyers from the onset. One way in which we do this is by providing a required financial curriculum that teaches Habitat homebuyers about budgeting, credit, debt and loans, saving, investing and planning for the future and emergency situations, as well as house maintenance and

the entire mortgage process. Through the homebuyer program, our families even help build their own home and the homes of others in our program.

Teaching the people we serve the fundamentals of the mortgage process leads to a greater investment in the home and empowers them to take control of their finances. Gaining a more in-depth understanding of these important concepts takes the mystery out of the home- buying process, instills confidence and a sense of pride, and builds a solid foundation for long-term personal success.
