What is SustainFloyd?

SustainFloyd is a rural nonprofit in the Blue Ridge Mountains that undertakes projects to support the environment, agriculture, renewable energy and community well-being.

Floyd Farmers Market helps build a local food system supporting food producers and customers Matching SNAP Benefits Program makes good local food available to those on limited incomes Refrigerated Truck supports the work of small local food businesses Floyd Energy Fest brings awareness and education about alternative energy Solar Voltzwagon is an educational tool to promote solar energy Film & Education Events bring community members together to explore issues affecting Floyd Tours & Workshops such as the ‘Tiny House Tour’ help bring local sustainability initiatives to a wider audience The Floyd Food Guide helps local food producers to connect with local customers and visitors The Personal Climate Pledge focuses attention on what individuals can do in response to the climate change challenges we face OUR PROJECTS

The Community Market opened in July 2010. The Saturday Farmers Market brings fresh local food to the community.

A refridgerated truck, here making a delivery in Charlotte, NC, brings a needed service to local producers.

Our first annual Floyd Energy Fest drew an enthusiastic crowd, who enjoyed a series of presentations and visited suppliers' displays.

The Solar VoltzWagon, built by SustainFloyd volunteers, is a tool to promote alternative energy strategies.

SustainFloyd hosts a Market Breakfast at the farmers market each year.

After each SustainFloyd film community members join a discussion.
