Football Facilities

Fred Selfe Stadium Originally constructed in 1925, Fred Selfe Stadium holds the honor of being one of the oldest football facilities still in use in the country. The stadium was named for Coach Selfe in the spring of 2008. A video scoreboard and updated game day operations center were were added in 2009 and 2010, respectively. In 2014, the home grandstand was named in honor of former Head Coach Lou Wacker and the playing surface was dedicated as Nicewonder Field. The FieldTurf surface, first installed in 2008, was replaced in the summer of 2019.

James H. Brooks Field House The James H. Books Field House, completed in the fall of 2012, is the home of the Emory & Henry Football program. The two-story, 18,237 square-foot building houses the team’s locker room, coaches’ offices, an athletic training room, classrooms, meeting rooms and lounges for alumni and the University president.

Robert W. Gibson, III Fitness Center

The Robert W. Gibson, III Fitness Center was completed as an addition to the King Center in 2000 and houses E&H’s weight room. Free weights, fitness machines, treadmills and elliptical machines are available for use by the student body and the University community. An extensive equipment upgrade was completed in 2015 as part of the Lou Wacker Tribute Campaign. The Fitness Center houses Emory & Henry’s Strength & Conditioning Program, run by Sam Roome.
