Dear Eden Club Members and Guests,
August 13, 2022
Welcome to the 2022 Parent Chi ld Tournament, our flagship fami ly event!
After nearly a decade, we are pleased to return to Wisconsin and one of the finest golf resorts in the world: The American Cl ub, a Forbes Five Star Resort owned by Kohler. The Kohler Company operates three world -renowned golf resorts in Wisconsin and Scotland. Whistl ing Straits, composed of the Straits Course and the Irish Course, has hosted the PGA Championship three times, the U.S. Senior Open, and was the first public course in over a qu arter-century to host the Ryder Cup. Blackwolf Run, composed of the River Course and the Meadow Valleys Course, has hosted the U.S. Women’s Open twice. First up on the agenda is Blackwolf Run’s River Course. The River features targeted landing areas, large undulating greens, a nd water or gorges on 14 of the 18 holes for a chal lenging yet beaut iful playing experience. Often an afterthought to sibl ing Whistl ing Straits, golfers should be aware — this course is a major venue in its own right. Memorable holes abound, such as the remarkable short par 4 9th; Cathedral Spires with three legit imate opti ons off the tee; and the handsome, if brutal, closing stretch of 16 – 18 that incorporates a twisting arm of the Sheboygan River. Day two offers the perfect place to loosen up before you play the Irish Course. The Baths of Blackwolf Run, designed by Chris Lutzke: a 10-hole par 3 course and a two-acre putting course. The Baths sit adjacent to the first tee of the Meadow Valley course with 10 holes ranging in yard age from 60 to 160. In Round 2, Pete Dye wil l be found at every turn on the Irish Course including in his famous signature characteristics recognizable throu ghout the grounds in railroad ties, a spattering of two dozen bunkers on every hole, and a difficult 18th hole. The finale takes us to the Straits Course, host of the historic 2020 Ryder Cup. Pete Dye has manufactured a layout here that has an amazing l inks feel replicat ing the ancient seaside links courses in the UK and Ireland. With rugged fairways, wind -swept greens, and over 1,000 bunkers, this course is a stern test for the best in the game. Most would not expect to play their handicap, yet enjoy a great experience, especially on the 17th, a long par 3 teetering on the edge of the Lake Michigan with a bunker 25 feet below the left side of the green. You will find it hard to bel ieve that you are in Wisconsin a nd not in Scotland.
I would l ike to thank The American Club and staff for making this out ing possible. I wish you wel l in this annual gathering.
Play well and enjoy your stay in Wisconsin.
Sincerely yours, Tom Lawrence Chairman Cell: (1) +441 505 1175 Cell (UK): +44 (0) 7703 468 863 Office: (1) +441 232 6524 Email: tlawrence@theedenclub.com
