WELCOME TO OUR love story

5

our story

Sometimes, life has a way of bringing two people together in a way they never imagined. That’s exactly what happened when we met. What started as an immediate connection quickly grew into something extraordinary—two lives blending into one beautiful journey. “Why would you want to marry me for, anyhow?” “So I can kiss you anytime I want.” —Sweet Home Alabama

6

But our love story wasn’t without its trials. We endured some tough obstacles, facing challenges that should have torn us apart. Life tested us in ways we never expected, pushing us to our limits. Yet, through every storm, we held onto each other, to our love, and to the belief that our journey together was worth it. And it was. Because now, on the other side of those hardships, we have built a life more beautiful than we ever imagined. A life filled with joy, deep love, and the kind of happiness that only comes from weathering the hardest battles hand in hand. Our journey of love has grown into the strongest relationship where we are best friends who support each other through everything life throws our way. We devote our lives to God, our children and family, and our careers, working hard to deliver our best with the talents God has given us both. It is our combined skills that has truly made us unstoppable. Junior’s expertise in real estate and Heather’s eye for design has turned into a flourishing house-flipping business, proving that love and teamwork can build something incredible. Our shared love for good food, traveling, and music became the foundation of our relationship. Whether dancing in the kitchen while cooking together, singing karaoke in the car, discovering new places, or simply enjoying a quiet evening together, we always find joy in every moment. Of all the places we travel, one is far more special than the rest—St. Simons Island, Georgia. It is there where we have created some of our most cherished memories, a place that has always felt like home. So, when the time came to say “I do,” there was no question where it would happen. St. Simons isn’t just a destination; it is a symbol of our love, our dreams, and our future. Now, we look forward to the next chapter—spending every day side by side, enjoying every moment with our children, and growing old together. Because for us, love isn’t just about the years behind us; it’s about the lifetime still ahead—one that is happier, more magical, and more beautiful than we ever dreamed possible.

her story Heather was born and raised in Max Meadows, Virginia, where she quickly made her mark in both academics and extracurriculars. In high school, she excelled as a volleyball and basketball athlete, a competing member of the Math MACC team, and a student at Southwest Virginia’s Governor’s School. She was also crowned Homecoming Queen and Miss FCHS, all while graduating with honors as third in her class. After graduation, Heather enrolled at Virginia Tech to pursue architecture. While there, she was an active member of the Residential Leadership Community and served as co–editor-in chief of the yearbook. Within her first year, however, she discovered her true passion lay in design. She went on to earn a B.A. in Art with a concentration in Graphic Design and a minor in Business. During Heather’s career, she gained experience as a graphic designer for a newspaper, a pharmaceutical company, and as an independent freelancer before stepping into her current role as Creative Director for a local print, mail, and marketing company, where she has thrived for the past nine years. Along the way, her work has earned several Gold and Silver ADDY Awards—including the prestigious Judges’ Choice Award—and has been featured on several PBS episodes, where she developed logos for nonprofit organizations. Out of all her accomplishments in life, however, Heather's four beautiful girls are the greatest of all. They bring the most fulfillment, pride, and joy to her life and she treasures every moment of watching them grow, learn, and become their own unique selves. Before meeting Junior, Heather never knew what it felt like to be loved so deeply. She hadn’t realized how much joy and adventure life could hold until he came into her world. Junior has shown her places she had only dreamed of and he daily works to make every dream of hers a reality. He puts the needs of their family before his own, cares for them wholeheartedly, and never misses a chance to show his love. Heather thanks God that their children will have such a remarkable example of a devoted father and husband to guide them. Now, as they step into marriage, Heather knows this is only the beginning of a lifetime of happiness. She looks forward to standing by Junior’s side through every adventure, creating new memories, and cherishing the beautiful journey they are building together.

his story Junior grew up in the Piney community where his childhood was filled with summer days spent riding bikes with friends and developing a lifelong love of sports. As the youngest of four children, life with three older sisters wasn’t always easy, but it shaped him with grit, humor, and resilience. A proud graduate of Fort Chiswell High School, Junior excelled as a three-sport athlete. He earned multiple accolades—All District in both football and baseball, All-Region in baseball, and even the opportunity to play collegiate baseball at Eastern Mennonite University. Instead, he chose to enter the workforce, beginning a career in sales at a local lumber company. In 1999, life brought him one of his greatest blessings—his daughter, Savannah Leigh. Just a couple of years later, in 2001, Junior joined Lowe’s as a contractor sales representative, a move that proved to be a career milestone. That same year, he faced deep loss with the passing of his father to cancer. But in May 2002, joy returned with the birth of his son, Leighton Troy. During the years, Junior built several personal homes, which sparked a passion for real estate. In October 2016, he passed the exam to become a licensed Realtor. God’s favor was evident as his business quickly grew. By 2020, Junior made the leap to full-time real estate, leaving Lowe’s behind after nearly two decades. The move was a perfect fit—he went on to be recognized as a top agent across Virginia with his previous brokerage, later earning Top Listing Agent and Top 10 honors with his current and forever home, Berkshire Hathaway Home Services - Mountain Sky Properties. Through all of life’s highs and lows, one blessing stands above the rest—meeting Heather, the love of his life. Today, Junior marries his best friend and soulmate, celebrating not only their love but also the beautiful blended family of six children that now completes his life. Looking back, every step, every challenge, and every joy has been a prelude to this moment. As Junior begins this new chapter with Heather by his side, he knows with certainty: she may not have been there at the start, but she will be there in every last. Blessed beyond measure, Junior believes this is not the end of his story, but the beginning of the best chapter yet.

THE proposal

10

a perfect evening . . . On December 28, Heather and Junior arrived to their favorite island with Junior’s children to celebrate his birthday, just as they do every year. That evening, a horse-drawn carriage awaited to take them on a ride to see the beautiful holiday lights around historic Jekyll Island. What Heather didn’t know was that the evening held a life-changing surprise...

and it was magical . . .

As the carriage came to a stop. Junior took Heather by the hand and led her beneath a tree, where he dropped to one knee just as “I Want to Know What Love Is” (their song) began playing in the distance. Overcome with emotion, Heather listened to Junior’s heartfelt words. To this day, it’s debated whether she actually managed to say “yes” through the shock and tears—but that magical night marked the beginning of the rest of their lives together.

MEET THE girls

Savannah, Junior’s oldest, currently resides in Las Cruces, New Mexico where she is currently pursuing her master’s in Social Work at New Mexico State University. As a 2017 graduate and stand out basketball player at Fort Chiswell High School, she was blessed to receive a full scholarship to Concord University to continue her athletic career and graduate with a Business degree. After college, Savannah joined the Army where she was stationed in Fort Sill, Oklahoma for her basic training and NIT, before being stationed in El Paso, Texas. During her basic training, she received the Distinguished Honor Award for being top in her class. Savannah is the one we call our “Counselor” and “The Life of the Party”—there’s never a dull moment with her, but she also has the heart to listen and care for us all without judgement. Gracelyn, the oldest of Heather’s four daughters, graduated from Fort Chiswell High School with honors and in the top ten percent of her class. She also took dual enrollment classes and graduated from Wytheville Community College with an Associate’s Degree. During her high school career, she served as a setter and libero in volleyball and as the number one seed in tennis. She currently attends Radford University where she is pursuing her Bachelor's in Psychology, and then her Master's in Counseling. Her dream is to become a counselor for children one day. In the meantime, she serves as a barista and waitress at the Draper Mercantile. Gracelyn is our laid back, super trustworthy and compassionate one. She is always willing to help us when we need her. She has a true heart of gold and always sees the best in everyone. Leia is the second oldest of Heather’s four daughters and is currently a sophomore at Fort Chiswell High School, where she is a straight-A student. She plays tennis and volleyball, where she is serving her second year on Varsity as the starting setter. Leia enjoys drawing, painting, reading, playing the guitar, and doing hair and makeup. Leia is our super creative and talented one. She can be the sweetest mother hen, but turn around and cut you like a knife. She’s always ready to leave as soon as we get to any place, but if you give her a mic, she’ll beg Jolene not to take her man.

Harper is Heather’s third oldest daughter. She is currently in the 7th grade at Fort Chiswell Middle School, where her favorite subject is history. She enjoys playing volleyball, going fishing, looking at old cars, and playing her PlayStation. Her favorite show to watch is Full House, her favorite music artist is Zach Bryan, and her favorite restaurant is Kabuki Japanese Steakhouse. Harper says when she grows up, she wants to be a hairdresser. Harper is our quiet, observant girl who just sits back and watches everything that is going on around her. Despite the fact that she loves to harass and tease every one of her sisters, everyone just loves her and her infectious giggle. Lauryn is the youngest of Heather’s daughters. She is in the 2 grade at Sheffey Elementary School and her favorite subject is math. She enjoys drawing, reading, cheerleading, turning flips and cartwheels, riding her bike, interior decorating, and doing her hair and makeup. She says she wants to be a graphic designer like her mom when she grows up. nd Being the youngest, Lauryn (a.k.a. Terder 1.0) is the most spoiled. She is a spitfire who knows a little about everything and will offer her opinion in every conversation. She is intelligent way beyond her years and we are confident she is going to rule the world one day. She’s already learned she can get whatever she wants from J with that sneaky little grin and a hug and kiss on the cheek.

MEET THE only guy

Leighton is Junior’s youngest and the only boy in the family. He is a 2020 graduate of Fort Chiswell High School where he played baseball and received a scholarship to UVA Wise. The Covid pandemic affected all of his plans and he went to New River Community College to get his welding certification. He then decided to join the work force, working at Volvo and now at Cintas as a route driver. Leighton recently married his beautiful wife, MaKenzie, and they live in Fort Chiswell. He loves to fish, play golf, and tell his dad how much better he is at both of those sports. Leighton is the one we call our tender-hearted teddy bear, but with a side of competitiveness. He’s always there to lend a hand and help us when needed.

From the very beginning, music has been at the heart of our relationship. Long before we found all the right words ourselves, lyrics became the way we shared our thoughts, feelings, and hopes with one another. Songs carried our conversations, our laughter, and our love when we were still learning how to say it all out loud. That’s why you’ll notice so many meaningful songs woven throughout today’s celebration. Each one has a story—a memory, a milestone, or a moment that shaped who we are together. These songs remind us of late-night talks, car rides, laughter, and promises that were spoken through melodies long before they were spoken face-to-face. Today, they are more than background music—they are a soundtrack to our journey. They remind us of where we started, what we’ve walked through, and the love that continues to grow. As you hear them today, we hope you catch a glimpse of the joy, love, and connection they continue to hold for us, and that they add to the beauty of this day we are so grateful to share with you.
