Drawing Out The Word

16. Starlight on the Cross

Scripture:

Philippians 2:5-11

Hymn:

"Infant Holy, Infant Lowly"

Meditation: How has the Christ child been seen through the ages? When He walked among men, even from a lowly babe, His life was illumined by God unto all those who would receive Him.  The Shepherds Saw Emmanuel, God with Us… (Luke 2:8-12; Philip. 2:5-7) They came by proclamation of the angels to Bethlehem that day. The Shepherd's knew that this was God in the flesh. They recalled the prophecies of Isaiah, reassuring them that Emmanuel was here with healing and sight for the spiritually sick and blind.  The Wisemen Saw The Sovereign King… (Matt. 2:9-11; Philip. 2:9-11) They came with gold befitting Christ's majesty. They brought frankincense to this holy one whose every breath was the Word of God. A gift of myrrh carried their thoughts forward to a time when He would die as the atoning sacrifice for the sins of all mankind.  The World Must See The Serving Savior… (Gal. 3:13; Philip. 2:8) Christ came to die for our sins. He came to conquer sin and death in His triumphant resurrection. And, He came to invite all who would put their faith in His atonement for their sin to an eternal life in glory with God the Father. He came to serve His Father. He came to save His followers. Have you seen Christ as Savior?
