Drawing Out The Word
12. Spiritual Perspectives
Scripture:
Deuteronomy 32:10
Hymn:
"Just A Closer Walk with Thee"
Meditation: The psalmist described this world as the "valley of the shadow of death." God carefully warned that every man is born in sin with a deceitfully wicked heart. Whether as a sinner who needs to get out of the desert of sin, or as a Saint who must navigate in a world of sinful influence, everyone needs the Lord as chief guide. You must maintain spiritual perspective… By Looking Up to God. (Deut. 32:1-4) God the Lord is the only sure foundation on which to build a life. In a world of instability and insecurity, there is a God who is a rock of refuge. Every sinner must receive by faith the free gift of salvation in Christ. Every believer must continually trust and obey to fulfill His good work. By Looking Back at Past Triumphs. (Deut. 32:5-14) God has provided many benefits to His people. The past proves the power of God in history and in the lives of people who have followed Him. By Looking Inward in Self-Examination. ( Deut. 32:15-18) God is jealous when man thinks that his blessings are coming from the world or from themselves instead of from God. Are your motives for service pure? Are you acknowledging that God is your source of power in all things. By Looking Forward to Consequences. (Deut. 32:19-21) God shows mercy by warning His people that their actions have consequences. Each one must examine today's actions based on tomorrow's consequences.
God ou r help in ages past…hope for years to come.
