Forward In the communication of God's Precious Word, I make no claim to originality in message or illustration. The ideas for the drawings and messages in this collection have many sources: from children's story books to other chalk-artists to formulation in my own mind as I have meditated upon the Holy Scriptures and reflected upon His glorious creation. I trust that these drawings and their accompanying messages will make a lasting impression upon your mind's eye as they have upon my own. May you find sweet refuge in these illustrations of our Lord's ever-living Word. Since church music has been an integral part of my programs, you will find a standard hymnal helpful in your study through each devotional thought. Joyfully in His Service,

1. To the Regions Beyond
Scripture:
Acts 1:8; 16:1-34
Hymn:
"Tell It Again"
Meditation: Our mission field is ever before us as we seek to tell the good news of Jesus Christ to a lost and dying world. Acts 16 reminds us that we should reach out to… The Regions Beyond our Doorstep (Acts 16:1-5) Our family should be our first concern as we see that our own household is nurtured in the saving Gospel of Christ by our word and deed. We must actively seek to win and disciple those nearest and dearest to our hearts. The Lord has placed us, by birth, in a mission field. … Beyond our Property Line (Acts 16:6-24) Our friends and acquaintances, work-mates and classmates, clerks and service providers all need to hear and see the Word of Truth. When we walk across our property line, drive onto the public streets or pass the threshold of another's business, we serve as "ambassadors for Christ" (II Corinthians 5:20). … Beyond our Control (Acts 16:25-34) Without murmuring and complaining, Paul and Silas gladly proclaimed the glorious light of Christ from the Philippian jail cell . They were in circumstances beyond their control , yet that only took them into another region for mission work. So, in sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer, in whatever state you may be--witness for Christ!
To the regions beyond I must go, I must go, Till the world, all the world, His salvation shall know!
2. Ornamental Words
Scripture:
Proverbs 25
Hymn:
"Brighten the Corner Where You Are"
Meditation: "A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver" (Prov. 25:11). Imagine King Solomon gazing out from the white, marble portico of his palace. As a horticulture lover, Solomon may have been appreciating the beauty of an orange tree in full fruit. Ah, the beauty of God's creation framed by the sparkling r ichness of man's wealth…and all of this elegance to describe the splendor of a single word spoken in the right manor, to the right person, at the right time. Proverbs 25 describes the beauty of a "word fitly spoken…"
Spoken to the Right Person (Prov. 25:8-10)
Spoken at the Right Time (Prov. 25:12-13)
Spoken with the Right Attitude (Prov. 25:14-15)
Spoken in a Humble Spirit (Prov. 25:16-17)
Spoken in Sincerity and Truth (Prov. 25:18)
O be careful little tongue what you say; O be careful little tongue what you say; For the Father up above, Is looking down in love. O be careful little tongue what you say.
3. Rest in God's Leadership
Scripture:
Psalm 23
Hymn:
"Surely Goodness and Mercy"
Meditation: David, from a shepherd's perspective, penned this endearing Psalm of God's love and care for His family of believers. Psalm 23 ends with a promise that goodness and mercy will mark the life of God's flock. And, the condition for these blessings from verse one revolves around the question, “ Is the Lord your shepherd? ” Indeed we all should follow Christ as our Shepherd… Because He Provides Our Every Need (Ps. 23:1-3) Why would our Lord want His children, His flock, to look good? "For His namesake!" A good parent wishes their child to look strong, healthy and satisfied in life, because the child reflects the love and care of the parent to passers-by. So it is with our Father in Heaven; He takes care of His own as a testimony of His love. …He Protects Us from Present Danger (Ps. 23:4) "The valley of the shadow of death" is a description of everyday life for the believer in this sin-cursed world. Satan is "the prince and power of the air," "seeking whom he may devour." So, this Psalm is not a Psalm of death, but rather one of triumph in a dangerous life. …He Prepares Life's Way Before Us (Ps. 23:5) A Shepherd would never lead his sheep anywhere he had not gone before to prepare the way. Our Lord has prepared a way for our life, and we must follow Him closely to be safe. …He Promises Us Eternal Life in Glory (Ps. 23:6)
Gentle Shepherd, come and lead us For we need You to help us find our way. Gentle Shepherd, come and feed us For we need Your strength from day to day.
4. God's Thanksgiving Feast
Scripture:
Exodus 23:14-16,19a; Leviticus 23:22
Hymn:
"Come, Ye Thankful People, Come"
Meditation: Where did our forefathers get the idea for a feast of thanksgiving? Our American Thanksgiving Day feast comes from the Old Testament Jewish celebration known as the "feast of ingathering" recorded by Moses in Exo. 23:14-16. What is Thanksgiving? A Time to Count Your Blessings. (Exodus 23:14-16) There were three feasts commanded of God in the Old Testament. The first was the Passover to celebrate freedom. The second was the feast of firstfruits to acknowledge God's continual provision and care. The third feast was that of ingathering. This last feast, held after the whole year's harvest was gathered, praised God for His Exodus 23:19a reminds us that our tithe to the Lord should be the first portion of our blessings. Honor the Lord in giving back a portion of that which he has provided. This is not a yearly proposition, but a continual principle found throughout the Word of God. Part of gratitude is a gracious attitude in giving. A Time to Share with Others (Lev. 23:22) The Lord has always provided for the poor and needy to receive gleanings from those who had fared well. Thus, we find that this feast of ingathering included the command to share material blessings with others in need. As the world looks upon me as I struggle along, And they say I have nothing, but they are so wrong; In my heart I'm rejoicing, how I wish they could see, Thank you, Lord, for your blessings on me. sustaining care and provision through the year. A Time to Consider Your Tithes. (Exodus 23:19a)
5. Santa Bowed at Christmas
Scripture:
Philippians 2:5-11, Galatians 3:13-14
Hymn:
"Thou Didst Leave Thy Throne"
Meditation: Looking through the storefront window, we dream of all the fun and games that Christmas gifts will bring. Possibly more than anyone else, the local Santa Claus sees the vast material content of the season. Yet, if we received every material gift of our longings, our soul would still not be satisfied and our eternal life not secured. Is there room in your heart for God? To receive
the true gift of Christmas, we must all… Bow as Sinners… (Philippians 2:5-7) For whom Christ came to save. Die to Self… (Philippians 2:8) For which Christ suffered, bled & died. Confess Christ as Lord… (Philippians 2:9-11) For everlasting life in His presence.
Angels from the Realms of Glory Hark! The Herald Angels Sing
O Come, All Ye Faithful Silent Night, Holy Night
Jesus Christ Is Born!
6. Flight Final
Scripture:
Hebrews 13:14; Revelation 21
Hymn:
"Shall We Gather At the River"
Meditation: Let us compare death with the departure of an airliner.
Your Ticket: Envision standing at the gate of departure with your ticket in hand. You had purchased your ticket by faith and had it stamped with the precious blood of Christ. Your fare was paid in full by God's grace, a free gift that you had accepted, and now you are ready to go. The Flight: You are preparing to board the one way flight to glory land. Flight 777 is leaving at its appointed time, no sooner and no later. Departure: There is no fear, because the Lord has dispensed sufficient grace for the hour. Approach to Heaven: As soon as the flight began, the light of that fair city came into clear view. Christ is the light that shines to dispel all darkness. There is only joy as we approach the landing strip at Glory Land Way. Welcoming Band: Saints on the other side are singing to welcome wayfaring pilgrims home. As we step onto that celestial shore, we gather at the River of Life flowing from the throne of God.
Christ your ticket purchased With His precious life and blood. And, if you choose to follow Him, Your soul will surely live.
7. The Way of the Cross
Scripture:
Mark 8:34-9:1
Hymn:
"Must Jesus Bear the Cross Alone"
Meditation: The cross is a symbol of death. The Roman government required a man, already condemned, to carry the cross-beam of his own cross to the place of execution. The posts were set along a major highway, often just outside the city gates, as in Jerusalem. The cross denotes that one is following the will and destiny of a higher authority. Every believer must face three critical decisions in order to "take us his cross" and follow Christ… A Decision about SELF (Mark 8:34-35) Are you willing to admit before all the world that you are a sinner in the flesh, saved only by the grace of God? Are you willing to put away the pride of self dignity and personal gain? Are you willing to forsake self in order to follow Christ? A Decision about the WORLD (Mark 8:36-37) Worldly riches and gains will not last forever. Your soul is eternal. Are you willing to sacrifice the eternal on the alter of temporary pleasures? A Decision about CHRIST (Mark 8:38-9:1) Will you believe that Jesus is Christ, the Son of God? Will you follow Him and gain eternal life? Or, will you loose you own soul to an eternal Hell? Will you believe that by dying to sin and self that you may find more abundant life in Christ? Come to the Savior today. "He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot loose."
(Jim Elliot, martyred missionary)
8. In His Steps
Scripture:
Colossians 3:1-4; Ephesians 2:5-10
Hymns:
"He Arose" & "He Lives"
Meditation: The message emanates from the empty tomb of Christ our Lord that we too must follow in His steps. Because He lives, we too may live. Jesus was raised unto eternal victory over sin and death. Follow the living way, and walk forward with LIFE! By Dying to Sin and Self (Mark 8:34; Rom. 6:1-3,7) Jesus paid the ransom for our souls when he died for our sin. He arose in victory over sin and death. To follow Christ we must deny the old man of sinful self and leave sin's grip in the grave. By Living with Heavenly Desires (Col. 3:1-4) As citizens of heaven, born into the family of God through faith in Christ, we have a new vision. We have new goals that reflect God's agenda. Our sights can now focus beyond the doom of sin and into the heights of eternity. We must be about our Heavenly Father's business. By Anticipating A Grand Reunion (Col. 3:4) Christ never looked back to the tomb. He only looked forward to His ascension to the Father. We never have to worry about the finality and completion of our salvation in Christ. We only need serve Him and look forward to meeting Him through the portals of death or upon His glorious return.
Because He Lives, I Can Face Tomorrow; Because He Lives, All Fear Is Gone; Because I know, He Holds the Future; Life Is Worth the Living, Just Because He Lives!
9. God's Teachers
Scripture:
Deuteronomy 32:7
Hymn:
"Faith of Our Fathers"
Meditation: Have you ever said, or heard someone say, "Back in the old days…?" That's not of human origin, but rather it is a directive given by God to the elders of His children. God's way of teaching the young the ways of life is by encouraging parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and other elders to share their experiences and knowledge with the younger generations... Because the Elders Have Great Wisdom. (Deut. 32:7; Job 12:12) God's teachers can share what they've learned, the good and the bad, in life. They can share ways to avoid mistakes that they have made. Elders can testify of the right paths that lead to triumph in life. And, they can share how they have coped with the trials. Young people need guidance from those who know the ropes of life. Because Old Age Displays God's Power. (Psalm 71:9,18; 92:14) God does not cast off the old as they become physically weak. He honors those who weaken in strength by giving them grace to live in victory. When the young observe this power in the lives of the old, they are seeing God at work. Old age is a testimony to the young. Because Godly Elders Teach Godly Principles. (II Timothy 1:5; Titus 2:1-5) There is certainly an honored role for elders in the church. God has assigned them to disciple young Christians in the proper ways to manage life and home.
Give of Your Best to the Master
10. Gardens of God
Scripture:
Genesis 2:8-17; 3:8-13; John 18-19; Psalm 5:1-3; Matt. 9:35-38; Galatians 6:7-9
Hymn:
"Bringing in the Sheaves"
Meditation: The garden has been an important motif throughout the Word of God. Let us learn as we tour some gardens of God. EDEN--The garden where God's fellowship with man was started & severed. (Genesis 2:8-10, 15-17; 3:8-13; Romans 5:12) We are all partakers of this broken fellowship, yet the important factor is that God remains faithful. GETHSEMANE--The garden of prayer for Jesus & His disciples. (John 18:1; Psalm 5:1-3) A place away from the crowds for meditation. When we pray, we must be prepared to listen. Garden of JOSEPH of ARIMATHEA, where Christ died and rose again for man's sake. (John 19:14; Romans 5:8; 10:9) God uses our humble gifts for His great purposes. ..YOUR HEART--Growing in God's garden of redeemed souls. (Romans 6:5-6, 10-11, 21-22; Gal.6:7-9)
Have you reached up for God from your garden of sin? Have you knelt for confession in the garden of prayer? Have you taken atonement at the garden of death? Is your heart daily growing in God's garden of grace?
11. Created Special
Scripture:
Psalm 139
Hymn:
"All Creatures of Our God and King"
Meditation: "I'm A Keeper" sang the young lady and her mother in reflection of God's desire to love and use everyone for His service and glory. Yes, every human life that has ever been conceived on this earth is highly valued by its creator, God. All of God's Creation is Good. (Genesis 1:27,31) God declared that all of His creation was good. Notice in Genesis 2 that man and woman were the highest and most esteemed of all creation. God Made Each Individual. (Psalm 119:73) God is a personal, caring creator who endows each individual with unique features. Everyone is indeed special in His sight. God Purposefully Engineered Every Human Body. (Psalm 139:13-17) Every human body is "fearfully and wonderfully made" by God. He planned our size, our colors, and our possibilities. How each one utilizes God's potential depends on how each regards the Lord and pursues His direction in life. Sin Corrupts and Separates Man from God. (Isaiah 59:1-2) The first step to realizing human potential is to remove the wall between the creature and its creator. God's plan fulfills itself in His creation, but sin cannot be linked to a Holy God. Man Becomes A New Creation in Christ. (Ephesians 2:8-10) By simple faith in Christ, anyone may indeed realize their full potential. We are truly His workmanship, created to glorify Him.
Crafted In His Perfect Image; Redeemed For His Final Purpose.
12. Spiritual Perspectives
Scripture:
Deuteronomy 32:10
Hymn:
"Just A Closer Walk with Thee"
Meditation: The psalmist described this world as the "valley of the shadow of death." God carefully warned that every man is born in sin with a deceitfully wicked heart. Whether as a sinner who needs to get out of the desert of sin, or as a Saint who must navigate in a world of sinful influence, everyone needs the Lord as chief guide. You must maintain spiritual perspective… By Looking Up to God. (Deut. 32:1-4) God the Lord is the only sure foundation on which to build a life. In a world of instability and insecurity, there is a God who is a rock of refuge. Every sinner must receive by faith the free gift of salvation in Christ. Every believer must continually trust and obey to fulfill His good work. By Looking Back at Past Triumphs. (Deut. 32:5-14) God has provided many benefits to His people. The past proves the power of God in history and in the lives of people who have followed Him. By Looking Inward in Self-Examination. ( Deut. 32:15-18) God is jealous when man thinks that his blessings are coming from the world or from themselves instead of from God. Are your motives for service pure? Are you acknowledging that God is your source of power in all things. By Looking Forward to Consequences. (Deut. 32:19-21) God shows mercy by warning His people that their actions have consequences. Each one must examine today's actions based on tomorrow's consequences.
God ou r help in ages past…hope for years to come.
God’s desire is that you pray today, confessing Jesus Chri “Father, I know Jesus paid the wages of death for my sin; I ask yo
13. Conditions for God's Work
Scripture:
John 6:28-40; 14:6
Hymn:
"Work for the Night Is Coming"
Meditation: Christ, while on earth, was asked the question, "What shall we do that we might work the works of God?" God's direct answer to this should clear any doctrinal errors that associate work with earning merit for salvation. Many today would begin listing good works and addressing social issues in response to such a question. But, let us examine the answer given by Jesus Himself as he stated the necessity of… First Obtaining Spiritual Life by FAITH. We read in John 6:28-29, 35, 39-40 that, "This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent. And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst." Clearly, the first pre-requisite for serving God is salvation by grace through faith in Christ (Ephesians 2:1-10). Then Using Your Physical Life for God. Hebrews 9:27 emphasizes that every man will die and be judged by God. Everyone has a limited physical life which is "even a vapor," notes James 4:14-15. So, there is but one opportunity to use this life for the service of the Lord. Finally Determining to Do RIGHT. Psalm 34:11-14 ponders why one would consider a life fulfilling without pursuing righteousness. And, James 4:16 17 marks them evil who know to do good and yet do not attempt to do it. Righteousness is a pre-determined choice by every individual. Will you choose to do right?
God Does the Work of Salvation. Man Executes the Works of Salvation.
ist as Lord of all and receiving Him as your personal Savior: our forgiveness and accept your gift of eternal life through Christ.”
14. He Brightens the Shadows
Scripture:
Psalm 46
Hymn:
"Sunshine In My Soul"
Meditation: Life has its time of shadows--sorrow, unrest, heartache, confusion, depression and loneliness. Yet, there is always a loving Heavenly Father willing to brighten the shadows of life… As Our Great Promise Keeper... So, what must we do to partake of His faithfulness? We must simply believe, trust, have faith in the ever faithful One--Romans 4:20-21. As Our Loving Creator... God speaks through all nature of His love and power-- Psalm 19:1-3. God speaks through His written Word with over 6,000 promises from Genesis to Revelation. God has spoken through His Son, Jesus Christ--John 10:10b. As Our Heavenly Father... God is our refuge in a troubled and sinful world-- Psalm 46:1-11. God Never Fails--I Kings 8:56. God Never Forgets--II Peter 3:9.
What a friend we have in Jesus, All our sins and griefs to bear. What a privilege to carry Everything to God in prayer! Oh, what peace we often forfeit, Oh, what needless pain we bear, All because we do not carry Everything to God in prayer!
15. Spiritual Facelift
Scripture:
Psalm 42-43
Hymn:
"Jesus Is the Friend You Need"
Meditation: Have you ever asked yourself, "Why is my soul so troubled?" Make-up and firm faces cannot restore a troubled soul. Yet, our Lord provides the prescription for continual vibrancy in our facial
expression. You must HOPE in the LORD… By Faithfully Seeking Him. (Psalm 42:1-5)
Animals seek what they need to survive physically. So, we should constantly seek food and water for our souls in prayer and Bible study. Notice that we may "praise Him for the help of His countenance [face]." Happy faces are contagious. Look unto the Lord. By Remembering God's Past Faithfulness. (Psalm 42:6-11) "Count Your Many Blessings," as the hymn reads. Keeping Him in mind keeps the heart in shape. And, no we may praise the Lord as He "is the health of my countenance." This describes a physical health for those who trust in God. By Trusting God's Present Faithfulness. (Psalm 43:1-5) God is actively working in this world today. We may fail, forget and falter, but He is always on time, always right and truly the faithful One. Again, our Lord is a source for a healthy looking face. Those who fully trust him will have few wrinkles from worry and distress. When upon life's billows you are tempest tossed; When you are discouraged thinking all is lost; Count your many blessings, every doubt will fly, And you will be singing as the days go by.
16. Starlight on the Cross
Scripture:
Philippians 2:5-11
Hymn:
"Infant Holy, Infant Lowly"
Meditation: How has the Christ child been seen through the ages? When He walked among men, even from a lowly babe, His life was illumined by God unto all those who would receive Him. The Shepherds Saw Emmanuel, God with Us… (Luke 2:8-12; Philip. 2:5-7) They came by proclamation of the angels to Bethlehem that day. The Shepherd's knew that this was God in the flesh. They recalled the prophecies of Isaiah, reassuring them that Emmanuel was here with healing and sight for the spiritually sick and blind. The Wisemen Saw The Sovereign King… (Matt. 2:9-11; Philip. 2:9-11) They came with gold befitting Christ's majesty. They brought frankincense to this holy one whose every breath was the Word of God. A gift of myrrh carried their thoughts forward to a time when He would die as the atoning sacrifice for the sins of all mankind. The World Must See The Serving Savior… (Gal. 3:13; Philip. 2:8) Christ came to die for our sins. He came to conquer sin and death in His triumphant resurrection. And, He came to invite all who would put their faith in His atonement for their sin to an eternal life in glory with God the Father. He came to serve His Father. He came to save His followers. Have you seen Christ as Savior?
O Come Let Us Adore Him, Christ the Lord.
17. God's First Parable
Scripture:
Genesis 22:1-14
Hymn:
"Trust and Obey"
Meditation: Three questions form the outline of this true event. As Abraham carries his only son to the altar of sacrifice, we can learn what God seeks to teach every human about true faith in the true God of Heaven. How close are you to God? (Gen.22:1-3) Abraham and God were on speaking terms, as they conversed as friends. The basis of obedience is communication. Abraham was not only willing to listen, but he was quick to obey. There was no delay or cross examination of God's motives. Are we so near to God as to move upon the Spirit's first call. What are you willing to do for God? (Gen.22:4-9) Abraham simply obeyed God. But, was it such a simple command to obey? Our willingness to obey must not be based on our personal system of wants and earthly values. Faith is trusting that God knows best and has a greater plan and better way than our own. Whose sacrifice have you given for your sin? (Gen. 22:10-14) Are you still on the alter as a personal atonement for your sin? Are you relying on your good testimony of works to be the sacrifice that saves you from eternal punishment. When all of our works are as filthy rags before the Lord, only a perfect life could atone for sin by death. We have neither a perfect life, nor the ability to die and rise again. Christ has been our substitute, but we must accept His sacrifice for our sin.
All to Jesus, I Surrender; All to Him I Freely Give.
18. God's Seasons
Scripture:
Genesis 8:22; Isaiah 55:6; Revel. 21:1-2
Hymn:
"Will Jesus Find Us Watching?"
Meditation: The seasons of Earth are here to stay until the end of this world as we know it. The Bible tells us in Genesis 8:22, "While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease." So, what can we expect on God's timeline of events? Any-Moment Return of Christ (I Thess.4:14ff.) Have you trusted Christ as your personal Savior? Only those who are saved in Christ will be taken out of this world when Christ comes in the air. Seven-Year Tribulation Period on Earth (Rev. 4-19) God will deal with the Jews as a nation during this time. The whole earth will suffer from God's judgements, and all those who had opportunity to believe before the rapture of the Saints will be deceived to trust the anti-christ during this time. 1000 Years of Peace on Earth (Rev. 20:1-3) Christ will return, in person, to the earth to rule from Jerusalem. There will be one thousand years of peace and perfect rule on earth. Then, Satan will be loosed for a season prior to God's final judgement on the earth. Great White Throne Judgement (Rev. 20:11-15) Only the LOST will be judged by their works, which cannot save their souls. Then, all who are judged here are condemned to an everlasting punishment in the "Lake of Fire." New Heaven & New Earth (Rev. 21:1-2) Seasons may very well cease, as God will create a new heaven and a new earth--the old earth being consumed by fire. But Until Then, With Joy I'll Carry On…
19. Agony at Gethsemane
Scripture:
Psalm 3; Luke 22:39-46
Hymn:
"Neath the Old Olive Trees"
Meditation: Psalm 3 is a reflective prayer of another king who knelt on the Mount of Olives hundreds of years before Christ--King David as he ran from his son's death threat. Christ and David both faced immanent death. Both cried out to their Father in Heaven. The word "Gethsemane" means olive press. When Jesus was pressed until there was nothing left to squeeze, what oozed out of Christ was not just sweat drops of blood, but submission--humble, obedient submission. How appropriate a place for such an agonizing experience. Might Christ have prayed, as David, the third Psalm. It is The Son of God was despised and rejected by men. "So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many." (Hebrews 9:28) By Seeking God's Ways (Psalm 3:3-4) The comforting and all-important thought of our Savior was God's plan of salvation to redeem his beloved people. (Romans 5:8) By Pressing on in Victory (Psalm 3:5-8) The victory was won as Christ submitted to the will of the Father and "became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross." (Philip. 2:8) here that we too learn how to submit to God… By Rejecting Worldly Counsel (Psalm 3:1-2)
And He walks with me, and He talks with me, And He tells me I am His own. And the joy we share as we tarry there, None other has ever known.
20. The Blood Is Still There
Scripture:
Exodus 12
Hymn:
"When I See the Blood"
Meditation: Imagine the terror in the land of Egypt for all who feared the God of Israel. According to God's curse upon Pharaoh, the death angel would pass through the land to kill the firstborn son of every household. God had given His people a way to escape this judgement. By applying the blood of a lamb to their door-posts and lintel, death would pass over that household. God has provided a way for every man to escape eternal death and condemnation and have eternal life. By Seeing that the Judgment for Sin is Death. Romans 5:12, "So death passed upon all me n…" Romans 3:10,23, "All have sinned…" Romans 6:23, "The wages of sin is death…" Revel. 20:14, "Death…cast into the lake of fire..." John 3:18, "He that believeth not is condemned already…" **The unprotected soul will DIE!** By Realizing that the Pardon has been Granted. John 1:29, "Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world." I Cor. 5:8, "Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us." Lev. 17:11, "It is the blood that maketh atonement for the soul." Heb. 9:22, "Without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sin." I John 1:7, "The blood of Christ cleanseth us from all sin." I Peter 1:19, "Redeemed with the precious blood of Christ as a lamb without blemish and without spot." By Applying the Blood of Christ to Your Soul. John 5:24, "Verily, verily I say unto you, he that heareth my word and believeth on Him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come unto condemnation, but is passed from death unto life."
Come to the Savior Now!
21. God's Memorial Speakers
Scripture:
I Samuel 7:8-17; Joshua 4; Deut. 32:7
Hymn:
"Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing"
Meditation: God has often had His people to leave monuments and memorials on this earth. And, he has always recruited memorial speakers to pass along the message of those monuments. Will you be a memorial speaker for God? By Telling of God's Sustaining Grace. (I Sam. 7:8-17) Samuel set up the "Ebenezer" stone along his regular circuit as a judge in Israel. The name on the stone simply meant, "Up until now, the Lord has helped us." So, we need things in our lives, in our routine and in our houses God instructed the older people to tell the youth of God's deliverance and help in their lives. They were simply to keep the past work of God alive in the hearts of the youth. By Remembering and Sharing the "Days of Old" (Deut. 32:7) "Back in the olden days…" is not a saying that originated with our grandparents--God used it. The elders, fathers, mothers, parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts, retirees… all have a very important role in sharing past mistakes, past victories and ways of life that may help the young. God has an army of memorial speakers, and you are one of them. that, when we see them, remind us of our Lord. By Telling of God's Work in the Past. (Joshua 4)
Here I raise mine Ebenezer; Hither by Thy help I’m come; And I hope, by Thy good pleasure, Safely to arrive at home!
22. The True Patriot's Vow
Scripture:
Psalm 33; 50:14-15, 23
Hymn:
"The Wise May Bring Their Learning"
Meditation: The greatest asset of a nation is having the blessing of the Almighty God upon it. God's love and concern is focused on individual people. It is through those people that He channels blessing. Thus, the greatest gift that a man, woman, boy or girl can bring to their country is a heart in which God is the Lord. By paying our vows to the Most High, we give the greatest honor to patriotism. How can we make God the ruler of our heart?
By Acknowledging God 's Ultimate Authority. (Psalm 33:8-11; John 1:10)
By Trusting Christ as Personal Savior. (Psalm 33:12; John 1:11-13)
By Loyally Serving and Obeying God's Word. (Psalm 33:13-22; Psalm 50:23)
We, too, would bring our treasures to offer to the King;
We'll bring Him hearts that love Him; We'll bring Him thankful praise, And young souls meekly striving To walk in holy ways:
And these are gifts that even The poorest child may bring.
23. Lower Lights for Christ
Scripture:
II Corinthians 4
Hymn:
"Share His Love"
Meditation: The old, familiar hymn begins, "Brightly beams our Father's mercy from the Lighthouse evermore, but to us He gives the keeping of the lights along the shore." Jesus is that "true Light, which lighteth every man." But, as He now resides at the Father's right hand, he has given a ministry to every believer on earth to burn as lower lights… By Living an Honest Life (II Corinth. 4:1-2) "Actions speak louder than words," as the saying goes. So, our life and dealings with other people must exemplify the integrity expected of Christians who are obedient to God's Word. By Preaching the Gospel of Christ (II Corinth. 4:3-6) Every believer is appointed to be a preacher of the Gospel. A lifestyle is only a true witness for Christ when it is followed by a verbal explanation of the Christ who empowers that life. An honest life makes the witness believable. By Living in God's Strength (II Corinth. 4:7-15) When the lost person watches a believer endure through "impossible" circumstances, they stand in awe and wonder. "How did you ever make it through that?" they say. And, there the door is opened for a testimony of your faith in Christ and His power in your life. When our vessels are weak, God's power shines all the more. Share His Love by telling what the Lord has done for you, Share His Love by sharing of your Faith. And show the world that Jesus Christ is real to you, every moment, every day.
24. Suffering Made Small
Scripture:
Rom. 8:18; Isa. 53:3-6; Matt.11:28-30
Hymn:
"The Stranger of Galilee"
Meditation: Have you ever called up a friend, brother or sister and begun to explain your problems like this, "Yes, I've got that-- and ten times worse…."? Reciting the old Hee-Haw song, "Gloom, despair and agony on me…" is not the best response to our sufferings. So, how can we cope? By Gaining the Right Perspective (Rom.8:18) "For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that shall be revealed in us." Think on the promises of Christ for the future of the Saint. By Considering Christ's Sacrifice (Isaiah 53:3-6) "He was wounded for our transgressions…." Jesus suffered emotional and social rejection more than you will ever know. He endured more physical pain than ever you will experience. Try to think of His suffering to take your mind off of your own. By Making Jesus Your Dearest Friend (Matt. 11:28-30) John 1:11-12 says that, "He came unto his own, but his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God…." Is Jesus a stranger to you, or is he your dearest friend in times of suffering. He knows your every pain and heartache. He is always there for you in Spirit and in Truth. He is indeed "a friend that sticketh closer than a brother" (Proverbs 18:24).
Tell me the story of Jesus; Write on my heart every word. Tell me the story most precious, Sweetest that ever was heard.
25. God's Altar Call
Scripture:
Genesis 3:8-10, 21; Matthew 11:28-30
Hymn:
"Jesus Is Tenderly Calling"
Meditation: The "Invitation Hymn" has been a very meaningful and serious part of our spiritual lives over the years. The old-fashioned church altar has received many a sinner and wearied saint to the refrains of "Just As I Am," "I Am Thine, O Lord," "Nearer, My God, to Thee," and "Softly and Tenderly Jesus Is Calling." But, it wasn't the preacher who called the weary to rest or hastened the lost to come home . It has always been the Holy Spirit of God calling to the hearts of men, women, boys and girls to leave their heavy burden of sin at the cross. Let us consider now a few of God's "Invitation Calls" recorded in His Holy Book. We find the Spirit of God walking in the Garden of Eden, tenderly calling for Adam and Eve to come out of hiding from the shame of their sin. Blood was shed that they may have the skins of animals to cover their naked bodies. God has always been willing to atone for the sins of mankind and restore fellowship. Thus He set in action a plan to permanently redeem all those willing to come to him by simply faith. …to the Word of God for Blessing (Isaiah 55) …to the Cross for Release from Sin (John 3:16) …to the Throne of God in Prayer (Matthew 7) Come, ye sinners, poor and needy… Invitation to the Altar of Sacrifice (Genesis 3:8-10,21; Hebrews 9:22; Isaiah 1:18)
Come, ye weary, heavy laden… In the arms of my dear Savior, Oh, there are ten thousand charms.

Hi Friend,
W o w! Colors-n-chalks, BleNdiNG & s-k-e-t-c-h-I-n-g until finally a blank, gray canvas has been transformed into an inspiring window of breath-taking scenery and beautiful imagery. ISN'T THAT AMAZING! Did It Catch Your Eye and Grab Your Interest? Why??? Who designed you to be a thinking, living and very wonderfully made human being? The Bible tells us that "God created man in His own image… male and female created He them." (Genesis 1:27) Psalm 139:14 praises God, "for I am fearfully and wonderfully made." We love to enjoy that which we create ourselves. God loves you, "but your iniquities [sins] have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you , that he will not hear." (Isaiah 59:3) …because creation fascinates every created being. Ever wondered how you were created?
Good News is found in Romans 5:8, "But God commendeth his love toward us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." So, YES, we can once again know our creator, God, and spend all eternity in His presence in
heaven. "If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." (Romans 10:9)
Joyfully Yours in Christ,
