GRANTMAKING The Community Foundation of the Virginias, Inc. awarded a record total of $616,005.11 in grants to area non-profits in support of their beneficial projects in 2023. In the Foundation’s 27 th year of grantmaking, an investment of more than $4 million has been awarded for area projects. The Foundation truly appreciates the diligence of the active members of the Grants Committee in reviewing and evaluating the applications and preparing the awards recommendations for the Foundation’s Board of Directors. The Committee members are: Chairperson Kathleen Blaydes, Mary Jo Babbitt, Gene Bailey, Deborah Garton, Craig Hammond, Cathy Corte Payne, Mike Swatts, Peter Taylor and Daniel Wells. Information for Grant Seekers The Community Foundation of the Virginias, Inc., awards discretionary and field of interest grants to 501(c)(3) and other non-profit organizations in four areas of charitable giving: Education, Health, Human Services, and Arts and Humanities in Mercer County, West Virginia and Tazewell County, Virginia and surrounding area. Applications are accepted annually fromApril 1 and must be received in the Foundation office or postmarked by June 30. For additional information, contact the Foundation office as follows:

GRANTS The Board of Directors of the Community Foundation of the Virginias, Inc. approved 63 Grant Applications for a total of $426,776.52; six (6) Donor Designated Grants for $6,299.17; eleven (11) Donor Advised Grants for $46,800.00. A total of $479,795.69 was approved by the Board. In addition, $126,209.42 was paid through a Pass-Through Grant from the Michael Christopher Smith Fund and $10,000 was paid through the Bailey Historic Crab Orchard Museum Fund. In 2023, a record total of $616,005.11 was awarded for grant funding.
