Regular Educational Grant Program

How do I apply? Applications may be secured from Ruri‑ tan National Foundation, Box 487, Dublin, Virginia 24084. You may also visit our website www.ruritan.org and find the application in the Foundation section. Return com‑ pleted applications to the same address. The completed application may be submitted by fax (540) 674-2304 or email to foundation@ruritan.org .

The purpose of the Ruritan National Foundation is to manage and maintain a trust for the encouragement, promotion and financing of the charitable, educational and benevolent principles and activities of Ruritan Clubs and of Ruritan National.

Purpose: The Ruritan National Foundation Educational Grant Fund is a program established to assist young men and women secure formal training beyond high school.

What is needed other than the application? 1. (Student Aid Reports) SARS.

Who may apply for an award? Any person recommend‑ ed by two active Ruritan Club members.

2. Reference letter from two (2) active Ruritans using the forms provided with this application. Only the first two let‑ ters received will be used. 3. School transcript including SAT/ACT scores (a) High school should mail a minimum of 6 semesters (3 years) of grades to Ruritan National Foundation                                                 OR (b) if in college, submit a current record of grades for all courses prior to April 1 of any year application submitted.

How are recipients of grants determined? On the basis of financial need, character, scholarship, academic promise and desire by the applicant for further education or training.

Who selects which students receive grants? The Ruri‑ tan National Foundation Trustees

Are grants repayable? No. This is an outright cash grant from the Ruritan Na‑ tional Foundation.

What is the amount of a grant? The grant will be $600 and the number of grants will be determined by available funds. How often may a student apply? Grants are made an‑ nually. A recipient may reapply each year.

What is the deadline for applying? Application and sup‑ porting papers (including the Student Aid Reports (SARS) and two Reference Letters from active Ruritan members) must be received by the Foundation Office by April 1.

Million Dollar Club Program

The trustees of the Ruritan National Foundation, Inc., at their April 2009 meeting approved a five year program to be known as “$$$ Million Dollar Club $$$” as set forth below. SLOGAN: BROTHER/SISTER CAN YOU SPARE ME A DIME How – Each member is encouraged to save a dime per day and forward to the Foundation at the end of each year which would total $36.50. To give the program a boost, you may want to send the first years funds of $36.50 to the Foundation at the beginning of the program and at the beginning of each of the next four years. Your funds when aggregated with the funds from over 27,000 members will total over $1 million dollars per year.
