Additional Information: This class provides the basic skills and safety techniques needed to paddle a kayak on flat water. The class will cover launching techniques, paddling terminology, basic paddle strokes, kayaking safety and trip planning. This is a fun and informative kayaking class followed by a short kayaking tour along the shores of Claytor Lake. All equipment is provided: single person kayak, paddle and personal floatation device. The class is taught by Mountain 2 Island Paddle Board Company. Participants will need to pay an additional fee of $4 a vehicle for park admission when they get to the park. Center at 9 a.m. $7/$14 YOUTH MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID – Instructor: Caroline Mullins – NRV Community Services Location: Christiansburg Recreation Center – Senior Activities Room Additional Information: Join Caroline Mullins, a Behavioral/Health Specialist in this useful training for our community. Mental Health First Aid teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use disorders. This training gives you the skills you need to reach out and provide initial support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem and help connect them to the appropriate care. The course is recommended for: Employers, Hospital Staff, Educators, First Responders, Faith Leaders, Community Members and Caring Individuals. This training will cover:

- Common signs and symptoms of mental illness. - Common signs and symptoms of substance abuse. - How to interact with a person in crisis. - How to connect the person with help. - Expanded content on trauma, addiction and self-care.

WAYNESBORO SHOPPING TRIP Location: Waynesboro, VA Additional Information: Join us as we travel to Waynesboro to the various shopping destinations. Lunch will be on your own at a local restaurant.
