19.5.1Notifications

This section contains recommendations for Notification settings.

This Group Policy section is provided by the Group Policy template WPN.admx/adml that is included with the Microsoft Windows 8.0 & Server 2012 (non-R2) Administrative Templates (or newer). 19.5.1.1 (L1) Ensure 'Turn off toast notifications on the lock screen' is set to 'Enabled' (Scored)

ProfileApplicability:

 Level 1 (L1) - Corporate/Enterprise Environment (general use)

Description:

This policy setting turns off toast notifications on the lock screen.

The recommended state for this setting is Enabled .

Rationale:

While this feature can be handy for users, applications that provide toast notifications might display sensitive personal or business data while the device is left unattended.

Audit:

Navigate to the UI Path articulated in the Remediation section and confirm it is set as prescribed. This group policy setting is backed by the following registry location:
