CHIP 2020-2021 Annual Report CONSIDER YOUR LEGACY

Make the Most of your IRA! You’ve worked hard for your retirement savings. Now, make them work for you to help achieve your goals for retirement, family, and your favorite nonprofits. If you’re 70½ or older, you can make a charitable donation directly from your IRA to CHIP of Roanoke Valley. The gift counts toward your required minimum distribution, and because you are donating it to a charity, you don’t pay taxes on the amount. At any age you may choose to name CHIP of Roanoke Valley as a beneficiary of your retirement account. Because retirement assets are taxed differently, many people prefer to donate remaining retirement funds to charity and pass along other, less heavily taxed, assets to family and friends. Your gift costs you nothing now and you can always change your mind if your circumstances change. To make a gift from your IRA , simply direct your account administrator to issue a check to: CHIP of Roanoke Valley, Tax ID #54-1566451, 1201 Third Street SW, Roanoke, VA 24016.

CHIP’s Legacy Society recognizes individuals and families who included CHIP in their estate plan. We are grateful for their legacy to thousands of CHIP children, and their commitment to CHIP’s future. If you’ve included CHIP in your estate plans, you are encouraged to contact our Development Director at ( 540) 857-6993 so we can recognize you for your generosity. Those not wishing publicity will be listed as “anonymous.” If you are considering making CHIP part of your legacy with a bequest, here is some suggested wording to share with your attorney: “I give and bequeath __ percent (__%) of my estate [or all the rest, residue and remainder of my estate] to Child Health Investment Partnership (CHIP) of Roanoke Valley, to be used for such general purposes as the Board thereof may deem appropriate.”
