WHAT WE DO
Where It Begins
GIVING
The good work of the Community Foundation of the Virginias, Inc. begins with the generosity of our donors. We provide people who love our region a way to easily give back and feel good about their charitable giving. Whether their desire is to support arts and culture, make the places we live even better, or to support the academic pursuits of our students, the Community Foundation is a professional partner and steward to put that passion into action. Ways to give include: Cash The simplest way to make a gift to the Foundation is with cash. Gifts can be dropped by The Foundation Office at: 128 North Street in Bluefield, West Virginia, or mailed to: Post Office Box 4127 Bluefield, West Virginia 24701. Appreciated Securities With a gift of appreciated securities (stocks and bonds), you avoid the capital gains tax that would be imposed if you sell the securities yourself, and you can take an income tax deduction. Other Appreciated Assets Please contact the Foundation to discuss gifts of closely held stock, real estate, or other appreciated assets. Bequests One of the more popular gift planning techniques, you can establish a fund at the Foundation through a bequest in your estate plans. This can be a certain amount or percentage of your estate to the Foundation. Such bequests are usually fully deductible under estate and inheritance laws. The Foundation will work with your team of planners to establish your bequest.
