CAC Employee Handbook June 2024

By using progressive discipline, we hope that most employee conduct problems can be corrected at an early stage, benefiting both the employee and Community Animal Clinic.

Employee Conduct

All employees are required to conduct themselves in an appropriate manner to ensure productive, ethical, legal, safe, and efficient operations. The business’ code of conduct calls for an environment that allows employees to focus on goals in an honest, open, and courteous environment, where everyone accepts responsibility, credit, and constructive feedback for his or her own work. Engaging in improper practices that are inconsistent with these conduct guidelines may lead to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

Unacceptable conduct includes, but is not limited to:

• Violations of the practice’s Equal Employment Opportunity and Anti-Harassment Policies • Breach of trust or dishonesty • Willful violation of an established policy or rule • Falsification of records, including employment applications and time cards • Gross negligence • Larceny (theft) or unauthorized possession of or use of property or information belonging to the practice, its employees, suppliers, customers or visitors • Possession of dangerous weapons inside the business or business-related premises • Excessive absenteeism, partial absenteeism, unauthorized overtime • Marring, defacing or other willful destruction of any supplies, equipment or property of Community Animal Clinic • Threats, bullying or acts of violence against practice employees, suppliers, customers or individuals outside of the business • Damage, destruction or misappropriation of property of the practice’s employees, suppliers, customers or visitors due to carelessness or willful acts • Disclosure of confidential business information • Neglect or willful misconduct on practice premises or when performing any business of the Clinic • Neglect or mistreatment of animals treated at or by Community Animal Clinic • Insubordination or refusal to comply with policies, procedures, or instructions from Dr. Beamer
