Clear your calendar this summer, grab a pen and circle Sparta! From award-winning fried apple pies in May to toe-tapping fiddles in July and mountain heritage in September, 2026 in Alleghany County is one long celebration. The Annual N.C. Fried Apple Pie Festival kicks things off, followed by Blue Ridge Fiber Fest, Music on Main all summer long, fireworks and our 250th Independence Day Parade, the Alleghany County Fiddler’s Convention, “Take a Break from the Interstate,” and the Blue Ridge Mountain Heritage Festival. Add in the Alleghany Health Fair and a season full of small-town hospitality, and you have a calendar that stays booked and buzzing.
