Deferred home maintenance can lead to expensive or even dangerous conditions over time and may diminish your ability to successfully age in place. For some maintenance tasks, it may make sense to hire a professional. Remember: emergency repairs are almost always more expensive than proper preventative maintenance! As a part of your aging-in-place planning, it may also be worth hiring a professional inspector to perform a thorough assessment of your home to identify any structural problems, major system issues, or safety concerns.
