50-Year-Reunion
Speaking of family. My friends at the Rescue Squad were instrumental in bringing my wife, Andrea Delgado, and I together. Long, long story. We were married in July, 1982 ( remember that, Patricia!) . Andrea ’ s dad was Dr. Primitivo Delgado of Bluefield College, and of First Baptist Church. We lived in our first quaint little house on Center Drive. Our family started with our son, Kevin, being born in August, 1985. Our daughter Diana came along in February, 1988. They both were a true blessing to us. Our family was complete. Kevin was a real gift from God. He was born with a congenital heart defect. He was flown to WVU Medical Center. They performed corrective surgery on his defect before he was a full 24 hours old. The surgery was one they didn ’ t usually perform until the child is at least six months of age. Even then, they didn ’ t give him much of a chance to survive. There were many, many prayers requested over these weeks. God was faithful to all these prayers. Diana and her family (Sam, kids, Zachary, Alana, and Amelia) are close to where we live. We get to do some real spoiling. Kevin is out West. Retirement has been good to us. I have completed several 5k ’ s. Thought about attempting a marathon (that ’ s as far as I got). We are active in our local church. Love the Lord and are always finding new ways to see His love for us. Golf is still my passion. But I ’ ve also picked up a crazy activity called Pickleball. It has become addictive. I ’ ve met many neat people along this path and fortunately have not become a statistic for an Orthopedist yet.
And one last observation. Why does this seem to feel like an obituary!! LOL
