After graduation I worked briefly at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on the custodial staff, before attending nursing school. I graduated in September, 1976 and began working at Princeton Community Hospital. I continued working there until mid - March, 1981 before getting married and moving to Huntington, Indiana. I had intended to return to Nursing School, but it never happened. I worked for 43 years as a Nurse. I feel it was a calling to provide care for my people. I tried to treat them as family members. John and I have been married 44 years and have four children. The first two were twins that we lost prematurely. We have six grandchildren, three girls and three boys. We love to travel. We've been blessed to vacation with our son and his fiancé, as well as his daughters, Scarlett and Lilah in Galveston, Texas last summer. We don't get to spend much time with them, unfortunately. We are blessed to live only one mile from the two youngest grandsons. Declan (Ducky) and Reed spend their morning with me as their Mom is at work. We've also enjoyed Gulf Shores, Alabama last summer. We love to go to Michigan and even got to walk the Mackinac Bridge Walk years back. We love to visit the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and love Whitefish Point. We've been able to see many lighthouses. Last summer we went to see Pensacola Lighthouse. It was a challenge to get up there, but well worth the climb. Closer to Bluefield, we enjoy going to the Cascades in Pembroke, Virginia.
