After graduating from the best high school in West Virginia, I roamed around a bit -- doing odd and end jobs, and then I eventually found employment at the Bluefield Sanitarium in the Operating Room as an O.R. Tech for nearly five years. I decided to move to Blacksburg to work at the Montgomery County Hospital in Radiology as a Dark Room Attendant for approximately four years. I left to became an Assistant Manager at a convenience store in Christiansburg for several years... ugh, wouldn ’ t do that again. I moved back to Bluefield to help with my ailing father and accepted a job at Bluefield Community Hospital as an Emergency Room Technician for nearly four years. Then, I foolishly attempted to “ find myself, ” but it always to be in the wrong place for several years. I decided to go to college after working with a program in Princeton with Adult Literacy. I attended Beckley College for two semesters and transferred to Concord College to finish my degree in Elementary Education, Pre - K, K - 8 certification. Upon graduation I moved to Winston - Salem, North Carolina. I couldn ’ t find immediate employment in education, so I worked for Hanes Sports Apparel in a smoking - hot warehouse as picker/packer, quality - control and an assistant supervisor. That summer I found employment with the Winston - Salem/Forsyth County School System. I worked a year as a primary reading teacher, and the following year I was awarded a job at Diggs Elementary as a second and third grade self - contained classroom for several years. Moving on, I accepted a job at Latham Elementary in a 3 - 5 combination interdepartmental teaching Language Arts and Social Studies. The opportunity arose for a job through Hospital/ Homebound Education Center to work at Wake Forest Behavioral Heath Level V Treatment Facility for sexually aggressive adolescents with emotional and behavioral disorders, for four years. Once again, I was offered a position to transfer to Brenner Children ’ s Hospital to teach K - 8 on the following units: cancer unit, burn unit, epilepsy monitoring unit, medical unit, and Sticht Center for Rehabilitation for 15 years. I was elected twice for Teacher of the Year in 2014 and 2017 for the Hospital/Homebound Education Center. I decided to retire in 2020 as COVID hit. I was planning to travel, but that was placed on the back - burner for now. I ’ m enjoying my free - time, coin - collecting, going to auctions, yard sales, garage sales, a small amount of gardening, and to the best of my ability hanging with the cat.

I ’ ve since moved out of Winston - Salem to King, North Carolina into a nice neighborhood. I own property in Bluefield,
