How could fifty years have passed since we last walked the halls of BHS?

EDUCATION After graduation I entered Bluefield State College, pursuing a B.S. degree in elementary education, K - 8 and special education, K - 12. While attending B.S.U., I met the man of my dreams who would become my future husband and best friend, Sam Angles. I graduated in December, 1978 with honors and quickly began my teaching career in January, 1979, starting the very first “ resource room ” In Mercer County at Bramwell Elementary School. While at Bramwell, I earned an M.S. degree from Salem Teikyo University in curriculum and instruction. Later earning a certification in administration, supervision, and as a superintendent, I remained at Bramwell until its closing. After Bramwell ’ s closing I traveled to several Mercer County schools, Whitethorn, Brushfork, Bluewell, Memorial, Glenwood, and Ceres, as a resource and inclusion teacher. I eventually settled in at Bluefield Intermediate School, as a Special Ed resource and Inclusion teacher, and later finished as a Title I Math teacher. I have had the pleasure of working with many wonderful teachers and personnel in my 37 - year teaching career. I retired from Bluefield Intermediate School in July, 2015. LIFE MILESTONES In June, 1980. I married my soulmate, Sam Angles of Tazewell, Virginia. We started our life together 45 years ago and still enjoy every day we have with each other. In May, 1983, our son, Stuart, was born, and a new chapter began. We have always been proud of his accomplishments, his hard work and all that he has become. In 2008, I gained a wonderful daughter - in - law, Ashley Beggs. In 2012 our grandson, Charlie was born and in 2014 our granddaughter, Drew, was born. We love them more than they will ever know, and they are our pride and joy. WHAT I ENJOY DOING First, more than anything I love spending time with my grandchildren, no matter if we are sitting at home watching TV, playing games, playing on the beach, traveling, or going to Dollywood. I have always loved to travel, and getting older hasn ’ t slowed me down! I love traveling with family and friends! We ’ ve traveled to Hawaii, Alaska, Grand Cayman, and many other Caribbean Islands. We have visited Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Zion NP, and many other National Parks. In May and June of 2024, we traveled with our family to Paris, London, and Edinburgh, Scotland. While in Scotland, I attended a Taylor Swift concert with the grandkids, and I enjoyed every minute. We visited many sites, toured many castles and enjoyed visiting Normandy American Cemetery.
