Who doesn ’ t love the Biltmore? For 25 years, this was my signature World History field trip. We were “ doing ” The Gilded Age long before HBO decided it would be a hit . I ’ ve only been 38 times. You learn something new each time. If you haven ’ t been, put it on your Must - Do Travel List.

As someone who loves history, interesting details, and a good story, I have always wanted to be a Tour Guide. For the past two years, I have had the absolute joy of giving Trolley Tours, showcasing some of the beautiful homes in the Historic Neighborhoods of South Bluefield.

I ’ ve only been to the Greenbrier three times, and two were for this wonderful lady, Miss Eleanor Rupp – celebrating her 50 th birthday in 1986 along with the Bible teacher clan, and nine years ago, as her official chauffer when she spoke about her book on Bible teaching to a group of English educators.

Definitely my most published photo. Selected from 172,000 entries, my oldest son, Jonathan, at our dining room table. This was one of 100 images selected by Parade Magazine for their 1992 “ Young America ” contest.
