Since leaving high school in 1975, I began my working career with the Kroger Company where I stayed for 47.5 years. While working for Kroger, I also attended Bluefield State College and received an A.S. degree in Civil Engineering. I continued my employment and started at the Cumberland Road, Bluefield location. After relocating several times, to places such as Bluefield, Virginia, Richlands, and Bluewell, I ended my career, retiring from the Christiansburg location. I enjoyed working with the public. I love meeting new people -- some that I have created lasting relationships with. I sincerely miss all of them. Throughout my life, I have stayed devoted to my church, my family, and my friends. I enjoy helping those in the community. There have been several “ Benefit Rides ” for those in need. Another thing that I greatly enjoy is fishing! I have fished in many Bassmaster Tournaments in West Virginia. Also setting up the Bassmaster Casting Kids program, where I worked with youth, teaching them many tricks to the sport. I have enjoyed several years in the warm sunny state of Florida for the winter, after retirement. This allowed me to broaden my knowledge with surf fishing, and I thoroughly enjoyed that . I really think I could be a surf bum! I have two of the most amazing daughters that a father could ever ask for, Carmen Hendrick and Elizabeth Bostic. I have six grandchildren that I love to spend time with and teach my fishing and camping skills to! Spending time with my family and giving God all of the glory will always be the most important to me.
