50-Year-Reunion

1987 - My third son, Justin Gray Hawkins, is my free - spirited boy. Loves the outdoors and actually lives off - grid on family land in Bluefield. He is the Special Event Coordinator for the Bluefield Parks and Recreation Department. Justin will marry his little sweetheart, Dani Green, at Woodshole Hostel in September. She also happens to be the middle daughter of Barbara Pruett and Wayne Green. 2014 - On December 28 , I was blessed with my first granddaughter. Raylan Kay. She is ten and has made her Maw Maw and Pop Paw very happy. 2018 - August 21, I celebrated the birth of my first grandson, Benton Wayne Hawkins. He is just like his daddy, full of energy. He is a loving little boy and keeps us on our toes! 2019 - After forty - two years of employment at PCH, retirement finally came. 2020 - I moved to Greensboro, North Carolina on October 23 to be closer to the grandkids. We now have a single - story home with lots of plants and shrubs to keep us busy. Lots of patio sitting and bird watching goes on at our home. 2020 - 2025 We are currently traveling the great states of Arizona and Utah for several months in our RV. We are hiking many National Parks, including the mighty five. This was in our retirement plan when I retired in 2019, but because of Covid we cancelled for a few years. We were fortunate to be able to winter near Cape Canaveral, Florida for the last five years. We are planning to travel to Iceland this summer with our son and his family. In summary , my past fifty years have been spent enjoying my family. God has been good and bestowed good health on us. I also want to say I still have a best friend since the age of seven that I cherish very much. Rosemary Larry Mitchell and I have remained best of friends even though we live miles apart. We still make a point to get together a few times a year and still stay close through phone calls, texts and Facebook. My memories of my school years and classmates are some of my most precious. Facebook has given me insight into their lives also. Excited to see everyone at our 50th reunion this summer.
