A LEGACY OF CREATING HEALTH, HEALING, AND HOPE
Our organization was founded in 1979 as the Free Clinic of the New River Valley. We are now a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), known as the Community Health Center of the New River Valley. We are an IRS 501(c)(3) private nonprofit community-based organization. We are governed by a local 12-person patient-majority Board of Directors who are volunteers. We have four clinical sites: A main full-time year-round clinical and administrative site in Christiansburg, a second full-time clinical site in Pearisburg, a third full-time clinical site in Dublin, and a school-based site within Pulaski County High School. We employ nearly 100 staff members. Each of our three full-time year-round sites provides primary medical care, dental care, mental health care, and substance use treatment services. Our school-based site provides on-site primary medical care and dental care.
We are part of a national safety net group of independent Community Health Centers that works to expand healthcare access to under resourced areas and people. We provide care to all, regardless of ability to pay or insurance status.
OUR VISION The Community Health Center of the New River Valley envisions a region of healthy and productive people, made possible through accessible and high-quality health care services for all. OUR MISSION The Mission of the Community Health Center of the New River Valley is to provide high quality medical, dental, behavioral, and preventive health care services to people of all ages and circumstances, regardless of ability to pay.
